Description:

For a while I've been wanting to loose weight. I am happy with who I am and my body shape but I know that my health would improve if I lost my excess body weight. I have found though that it's really easy to hide the fact that I'm wanting to loose weight and not be held accountable for what successes or set backs I'm having if I dont report it to someone. I also find it hard to talk to my family or friends about it without feeling a little self critical when I do have the set backs. It's not that they ever say anything bad about it, we all have them, its just that I feel almost ashamed of them. Plus I dont like feeling like people are there watching what I'm eating which is what I sometimes feel when I know people know I am trying to loose weight.

So that's where this swap comes in. It's going to be set up really easy. Mark down your weight. Try to note the time of day and roughly what you are wearing. After a week take note of your weight. You will have one partner. Send your success (or set back) difference to your partner via a swap bot message (or to their email). Just say something like yay I lost 2 pounds or it was a really tough week I gained 2 pounds.

You can go into more detail and in your one email with information like daily weight changes (but please put a overall success or set back for the week). What things really challenged you this week. What things you feel proud of doing that week. etc. I will set this sign up period to last a little over a week. I will also put a 2 week period on the sending date. You can start marking your weight when you sign up, when I assign partners, or upto a week after I assign partners. Just make sure you allow yourself a week to track your weight change!

If you decide to do more than one swap of this feel free to also include your overall weight change. For example if it was week five it could read : This week I had a tough week and gained 2 pounds. Overall with the swaps I've lost 10 though!

I am going to be setting up several weeks (some in advance so I can't weasel out of it lol) with more to follow. If I don't post up more bug me about it! Get me to do it so you can do them with us!

If you have lost the weight that you're happy with you can also use this as a way to help keep yourself motivated to keep it off :)

This is really cool! I'm think I'll be joining, but my boyfriend keeps me pretty much in-check with this stuff. He helps me a lot because he has gone through extreme weight loss and having an eating disorder (binging).

I have some tips for those wanting to lose weight, though, based on what I've been doing for the past few months. This is what is working for me, but might not be suggested for everyone!

You have to keep yourself accountable... I started using a food tracker app on my phone (MyFitnessPal) and it's awesome. It's so much easier than writing down in a food diary. I'm doing a certain "diet" which is where I can only eat from 5pm-1am (an 8 hour feeding period- could be anytime, but if you eat later, you'll be fuller in the am, I've noticed) because it's easier to make myself track and eat 1400 calories (my cutting body weight amount, I think 1600 is my maintain amount- this is trial and error for figuring it out) in this small window than trying to eat a bunch of small meals all day long. This is a personal preference. It doesn't slow down your metabolism. With this diet I can eat pretty much anything I want. My boyfriend loses weight with eating pop tarts, cookies, cake, and whatever else he wants (usually at least 1lb of meat a night - literally) but he sticks within his calories/macro nutrients (fat, protein, carbs, etc...). You don't have to just eat salads and other "healthy" stuff. I feel like, since I don't have to feel like I'm forced to eat foods I don't like or that I can pretty much eat whatever I want - it's been so much easier. Find a program that works for you!!

I haven't noticed a huge difference in weight loss, but I can see with my eyes where my stomach and face, especially, have gone down a lot. I try not to focus on the amount of weight, because so many factors can change that and it can be water weight adding more weight than what it really is. I suggest doing it once a week at the same time, without clothes on. It'll give you a more accurate reading.

At the gym, my boyfriend has me working out with weights as opposed to just do cardio. Cardio helps out in the moment, but weight training sticks with you much longer and helps you burn more overall. And for the myth that you will grow huge muscles from it is not true at all. I've lost over 10lbs the past few months from doing this. I've noticed a lot more overall loss all over my body, though. This is what's important, in my opinion.

I'm excited to do this, because I hate having to tell my boyfriend that I didn't notice any weight loss (numbers-wise), but he and my mom are always commenting on the amount of weight it looks like I've lost. It is disheartening, but you can't give up. :)
