Description:

Calling all sweet-toothed vegans! This is a simple, delicious swap; each participant has one partner to whom they will send a small package of vegan candy, valued at around £4 / $6 - that should cover two or three items of sugary goodness!

Participants should add their candy likes/dislikes to their profiles - if you haven't done this by the signup deadline, you will be removed (I want to make sure everyone has something to go on and can be confident in sending their partner something they'll like!).

Anything sweet goes - peanut brittle, chocolate covered raisins, fondant-filled chocolate bars, chewy sweets, marshmallows, sherbets, raw fruit bars* - whatever you like, list it in your profile and you never know your luck :o)

I probably don't have to say this as I imagine most if not all people taking part will be vegan, but please ensure that the candy you send is free of all animal products! Things to keep an eye out for aside from the obvious (dairy, eggs) are sneaky ingredients like carmine, cochineal, beeswax and shellac. If in doubt, contact the company and/or do some online research.

*If your country has specific restrictions about raw items or any other foodstuffs, please let your partner know via your profile. When sending your candy, please mark the contents of your parcel clearly on the customs form (where applicable) to make things easier at the recipient's end.

Thanks for taking part! Have fun, and please remember to communicate in the event of any problems or delays. Leave any questions/comments here or contact me via private message :o)

Also "confectioner's glaze" (at least in the US) is another name for shellac, thus not vegan.

Watching for now! Glad to see a vegan swap. :)

I am wondering what other vegans consider about a nougatbar we have here which contains traces (less than 0,5%) of milk. I guess that means they have it in the same room, and that they can not guarantee anything, but is that too much milk? Just wondering, (I used to eat them when I was a vegan (my veganism comes in phases)) because I wanted to join but if that one is not considered vegan I am not sure I will find enough different things in time. Oh well. :D

@boue You'd need to check with your partner. Personally I eat chocolate that 'may contain traces of milk [due to the manufacturing process]' but other people may differ.

@user2637 I don't know how many vegans there are on Swap Bot! We'll see :o)

There used to be enough vegans on here that we did recipes swaps and had a group. That was long ago though. But I still search for 'vegan' in the search page. :)

I also eat stuff that "may contain traces of milk"

Vegan swap!! :D Yeah, I'm cool with "may contain traces." But I'll send out something that's definitely vegan.

I'm a strict vegetarian that also doesn't eat butter or margarine ... can I join? Oh and if anyone knows a pastry recipethat can be made without butter or margarine ... I would much appreciate a link :)

@laffytaffyrainbow Hi! I'm not sure what you mean by 'strict vegetarian' (I've only heard it being used as a synonym for vegan) - but yes of course you can join, as long as you send only vegan items in your parcel :o)
