For this swap you have to send 3 different types of tea (they can all be different kinds of green tea for instance) to your partner. Pack little bags (just as big as for factory sealed ones) - so it's still under 20g. Use ziplock bags if possible so tea arrives in good condition. :)

Everyone is welcome in this swap.

I have two loose teas, can I send a manufactured bag for the third one? I could take it out of the bag, but to me that would seem silly, but you are the host and it is your rules. So what you say, I will abide by!

Fraise 09/22/2013 #

Yes, send the third one in a bag. :) I strongly believe no one will be dissapointed since there are usually only swaps for manufactured bags. Nice swapping!

I was just looking at who all is in this swap, and it looks like Australians can't receive looseleaf tea, it'll be seized. Especially because this is for unpackaged teas. Speciflcally from their government page, this will be seized:

"all plant material including bulbs, whole plants, cuttings, roots, flowers and stems" "gifts, ornaments and toys filled with straw, plant matter, sand or soil." "tea containing seeds, fruit skin (for example citrus and apple peel) and fruit pieces" "dried herbs or leaves"

I'm mostly concerned because we do have one Australian on this list and I doubt she'll get her package with these restrictions. It doesn't say anything about teabags, but this is supposed to be a loose tea in zippies swap, not a manufactured tea swap or a teabag swap.

Hi everyone!

"For this swap you have to send three different types of tea (They can be all different kinds of green tea for instance) to your partner."

This is supposed to mean that the three tea bags?

Thank you!

Metruis 10/14/2013 #

No, it doesn't mean three different tea bags. This is a loose leaf tea swap. That means unpackaged tea. In Canada we have a place called Bulk Barn where you can get lots of types of loose leaf tea in whatever amount you'd like. We also have David's Tea, Teavana, and our grocery stores (at least the big ones) usually have a few types of loose tea too.

Specifically, it means three different types of loose leaf tea in ziplock bags. 20 grams in a ziplock bag (which is about what'll fit into a little ziplock bag).

I think it's supposed to be each one is twenty grams, but it might also mean twenty grams in total, come to think. I was just planning on sending around 60 grams of tea. Anyway, twenty grams of looseleaf tea is enough to make two cups of tea for me, sometimes more. Clarification on this fact (twenty grams in total, or twenty grams for each bag) would be nice.

I'd make sure each ziplock bag of looseleaf tea you send has enough tea in it to make at least one cup of tea.

I'm still really concerned about the Australian shipping issue. If it's flat mail it might pass but that doesn't make it legal.

Then I think I get it.

It is understandable :)

I hope you will send will comply with the requirements.

Fraise 10/15/2013 #

20 grams in total. Thanks for an extensive explanation Metrius.

Metruis 10/15/2013 #

Righto. Well... that might not stop me from sending more ihavesomuchtea.

Hi I have a problem. My partner is Australian .. what do I do? @teafortwo @Fraise

KarlaKC 10/29/2013 #

@Teafortwo hasn't signed on since Oct 15 anyway and looks like she is flaking on two swaps so far. I personally would not spend the expense to send her tea until she makes contact. I contacted her 3 days ago, in 3the different ways, and have not received a reply. My suggestion would be to hold onto the swap you would have sent her and send to her partner whom she most likely will not send to since she's not been on SB in so long. She probably won't get your tea anyway since it ut is

KarlaKC 10/29/2013 #

...it is not allowed in Australia.

TC 10/29/2013 #

@sophiemoo is partially suspended with five 1s. (She had two 1s already when partners were assigned for this swap.) Host should plan to angel.

Metruis 11/13/2013 #

Seems like a bunch of us got screwed here, I also got flaked on by JonHaug, who has not logged on since the swap date and didn't mark as sent.

I don't mind TOO much because I have so much tea and it fit in a letter but I'm still a bit grouchy about it because there managed to be three flakers in one swap like this!

KarlaKC 11/16/2013 #

If you had Coralie Cram aka @Teafortwo as your partner to receive from, and you have not received, please leave her the appropriate 1 rating. She has 4 late swaps on her dash and hasn't signed on since Nov. 5th. You can always upgrade the rating if you do receive from her. But you need to let others know that you haven't received by leaving those 1's. If you have received from her, then go rate her a 5 or a 3 if the swap requirements weren't met. Noone has rated her!
