It's time to celebrate a return to posting swaps at ASBB , after a break! In this swap, let's be inspired to create something wearable featuring Adinkra as our inspiration. "Adinkra are visual symbols, originally created by the Ashanti of Ghana and the Gyaman of Cote d’Ivoire in West Africa. They represent concepts or aphorisms, and are extensively used in fabrics, pottery, logos and advertising. The symbols have a decorative function but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom, aspects of life or the environment." Mawuna Remarque Koutonin, from Silicon Africa web site article on Adinkra . "Something wearable" can be a patch (embroidered, created with fabric markers or paints), a brooch or pin (might be able to ship flat!), a necklace, a ring, a hair decoration, a scarf .. the gates to your imagination are open! International shipping is expensive, and I want this to be affordable! Requirements are to have some openness to trying something new and receiving something new! Anyone who may not meet qualifications can contact me about a 1:1 swap. I angel all my swaps. The swap graphic is from QuellyRue Designs -- gorgeous earrings! The symbol represents ram's horns and that strength and humility must exist together. This group is persevering! Hooray! 2/5: Date edited -- I entered Feb 21 rather than March 21 initially. |
