Swap Info:Looking to try a book in a new-to-you genre? Or looking for an excuse to read a book off your Mt. To Be Read? Every month, we'll explore a different genre by reading a single book and sharing our thoughts with our partner. June's genre is picture books. Whether you're new to the scene or just using this swap to read one you've had your eye on for a long time, this is the swap for you. Genre Definition:(Wikipedia) A picture book combines visual and verbal narratives in a book format, most often aimed at young children. The images in picture books use a range of media such as oil paints, acrylics, watercolor, and pencil, among others. Any book that pairs a narrative format with pictures can be categorized as a picture book. "In the best picture books, the illustrations are as much a part of the experience with the book as the written text." Picture books may or may not have page numbers, and they cover a wide variety of themes, target audiences, and subgenres. Some picture books are published with content aimed at older children or even adults. Swap Instructions:Choose any picture book and read it! There are tons of online suggestion guides that might help. I'll list some favorites of the CL mods here at the end of this post to get you started.
