We're going to make some extraordinary mail art. For this swap, we'll have one lucky partner. What you need to do first, is go to some store, probably a 99p/dollar store, and find a plastic pencil case. This pencil case has to be no smaller than postcard size (4x9), have some sort of closure/zipper at the top. I would recommend finding the most boring, plain, pencil case. Avoid fancy zippers and designs. Aim for something that looks like an envelope in size/shape etc but if you find something a little smaller, don't panic. We'll be decorating the pencil case on the outside. Think collage, stickers, pictures, ribbon, beads, anything that will stick to it, you could paint/draw then stick the picture on the pencil case but I am guessing it won't be very sticky and will need to be sellotaped. The pencil case has to be completely covered, when you've finished with it. Theme is up to sender. Please don't just send a store bought, cute looking pencil case. YOU have to make the design of the pencil case with mail art. Next, let's not leave it empty. Your partner wants something to open! Include a little note in there. Where did you get the pencil case from? How did you decorate it? Include some little flat pieces like smash book supplies, book/magazine pages or cut outs, ribbon/beads, postcards. Include a minimum of 5 pieces- 1 piece counts as 1 item (e.g 1 postcard = 1 item.). Keep it simple or go crazy, senders choice. The focus in the mail art. The inside is just a bonus. :) Sellotape the top closed after closing the pencil case with its zipper. This will help if it has a plastic ziplock kind of closure, like in the swap picture. If it is something more fancy, you might need some sort of duct tape. Please, whatever you do, make sure it is secure and can't be easily zipped open. I can only wonder what my postman is going to think LOL. Have fun!!!! |
