Decorated Pillbox Fill

My favorite color-combos are: black, pink & purple blue & silver red & gold or pink & gold. :) I am fairly easy to please! ;oP

I love that we have lots of time on this one! I even have a brand new pill-box, ready for filling. I knew I bought it for some reason. My favorite colors are pink, black, and silver. I am not picky, though, and will be pleased with whatever my partner wants to send!

This does sound like fun. I love little things. Any colors are fine- variety is the spice of life. It is nice having so much time to work on filling the 7 "days" with fun stuff.

I think this might be my new favorite swap! My favorite color is blue (any shade) but I also like black, silver, pink and purple... or any other color really hehehe

What exactly are \'brads\' that go in the second compartment?

i like everything tiny! my fave color is teal blue, but like most, I like pretty much all colors. this will be a fun swap, and the far away dates makes it easy to not worry about getting it done too fast. Especially when you have your hands in a ton of swaps and projects, like me, LOL

PS: to the person asking about brads... they are paper fasteners. You can get geral gold or silver regular size at any office supply store, but they also sell small decorative ones, or just plain round heads in different colors at craft stores. What they look like is a small round (or other shaped) head with two thin prongs that stick out from the bottom. To use them, you simply poke a small hole in your paper, place the prongs thru, then separate them and press them down. They are used as decorations, or for holding papers together. I hope that helps. Where are you located? I like this idea because I am going to use them them later to store tiny embellishments in, and I'd like them to be see thru. so could you only paint either just the top or the bottom. you really don't have to paint mine, only if you want to! I am just not quite sure how I'll do it...do acrylics stick to plastic, or should it be gessoed first? susi

Thanks, Susi. I know what you mean (and until now I didn't even have a name for them) - I've got tons of the plain golden ones. I could always decorate them myself, couldn't I? Spot of nail varnish or marker pen...mhmm, I've got some great ideas :-)

yeah, permanent markers might be good or nail polish...

LOL, I thought you were talking about the pill boxes! I am on swap bot wayyy too late!

Word of warning- if you are using one of the semi clear soft-plastic pill containers those are made of pole ethylene and no paint will stick to it for very long. I suggest trying to find hard plastic pill containers.

I still haven't been able to track down a pillbox in my hometown (we have more than 100,000 inhabitants - that's so pathetic, I know) but luckily we have a long sign-up period. If all else fails I'll try eBay. I'm not bothered about colours, just decorate the box in a way that's pretty. I like glittery and sparkly things though ^_^

I'm leaving the colours up to my partner, I really don't mind whatever colours come my way! =D

since you can often find these in COLORED plastic, that would work for me, rather than painting it - I also would want to use it for tiny embellishments and would ike to be able to SEE what is inside. So unless you are absolutely in LOVE with the idea of painting it, please maybe just decorate it a little with markers or something - (hope that's okay)

I'm positively open to whatever colors my partner would like to send - I can use ANYthing - and I like bright colors over pastels, if I HAVE to make a choice!

hey- this is a neat idea! I really like all colors- no real favorites but I do tend to use less of the pastels and more of the natural soft colors- robins egg blue- moss green- rusty reds- anyways, off to shop for a pill box! Happy "almost" Spring! Lori

I just noticed you shortened the sign-up period. Isn't just 10 days a little short to find out about your partner, decorate the pillbox to their liking and find the things to fill the box with? Unless you start working before you know who your partner is and thus make a general pillbox rather than one tailored to their taste.

my partner better like purple because its the only color I had that sticks to plastic!!! :o)

Oh wow the send by date has changed by quite a bit... over 30 days difference... I think I'm going to have to drop from this swap..sorry

I'm really sorry, but am going to have to drop from the group - I've been trying to get paint to stick to this thing now for almost a week, and it just keeps peeling off - I did find a cute sparkly plastic one, tho - but just can't be happy with the painting.

I saw that the sendby date changed by quite a bit, so I panicked and already started on my pillbox. Hope my partner likes pink and white! =x

I used nail varnish on mine, I had no problems with that sticking to the plastic. Like raydance I started on my box already :)

However I'm really sorry to see so many people dropping out :-(

Before anyone else drops out here's how I did it-

I taped up the top of the pillbox because I saw that several people seem to want to use it again for little items. I then flipped it over and spraypainted the bottom of the pillbox with normal white spraypaint.

My boyfriend paints miniatures, so I stole some of his acrylic paints to work on the primed pillbox, and then glossed it over again with a varnish to seal the paint in. =)

Hope this helps people who still don't know how to make the paint stick! ><

Sorry everyone! I have been planning to e-mail everyone to let them know I changed the dates. I will be leaving for new york at the end of the month for two weeks and will not be online during that time. I wanted to make sure that my swaps were dated for BEFORE I leave or well after I am back so I can be here in case there are questions, etc. I hate that people dropped out! I understand, though. I hope everyone can forgive me.

Okay... I have changed the date again to make it AFTER I get back. Hopefully this will help everyone and bring back the ones who dropped out!

Gack. I somehow just realised that this got shoved back a good bit. I want to let my partner know that I will be out of the country between 12-27th May, and as such will only be able to get the parcel out by 28th May the earliest.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I do intend to honour all my swaps, especially this one, since I have put a lot of effort into it. =p

That should be fine, raydance... I am sure your partner will understand as long as they know ahead of time. I will understand if it happenes to be me. I know one thing... I learned my lesson with changing dates! YIKES!

this really IS a good swap concept, but I tried for over a week to get paint to stick and just couldn't - I'm disabled and do not drive, and live in a VERY small town, so getting some way to make that work just isn't feasible -

I'm sorry so many dropped out too, but maybe if we were just to FILL and maybe just DECORATE (in our own way, with stickers, or other embellishments) it might have been easier...

Helloitsme I received your box today, there were no stickers and I'm not sure but your sequins/confetti weren't sequins or confetti but shiny fabric flowers & butterflies. I'm not complaining but someone else may have as the requirements were not quite met. I had to re stick some of the decorations back on the outside of the box too. Thanks for putting in the effort and sending to me on time :o)
