Description:

Hi everyone! This is my first hosted swap, hopefully it goes smoothly :) This swap is open to anyone with a 4.7 rating and up.
I didn't see any swap on here like this, so hopefully i am not taking another swap idea (not my intention).

What do you do with those old metal license plates from your car that expire and end up lying around in your garage or ultimately the trash? Why not send them to someone? - a great way to collect a piece of another place - kind of like a big metal postcard LOL

You will have one other partner that you send a car license plate to. International welcome - but make sure it is ok in your country to send out license plates.

Thanks for reading and have fun :)

Really? There are states that don't make you send them back? NY sent me a nasty letter when I moved out saying that I couldn't keep it.

I live in MO and we have a pile of them this is a neat idea I was at a scrapbook convention in Kansas City and someone had made scrapbook albums out of them they took one plate and cut it in 3 pieces one for the spine and two for the covers they were really neat looking and would work great for a travel scrapbook

This is so exciting:) I am collecting tags from every state and already have 23!! I am going to do my computer room in old car tags from every state. I hope I get a tag from somewhere I don't have one. I have pleanty of Alabama ones lying around:)

Okay, I would like to join this swap but CA doesn't let you keep your plates. Can we buy one at an antique store? Is that exceptable.

In NY, you only get to keep it if it expires on you. When they reissue the new plate design, they don't take back the old one. Otherwise you have to send it back.

if you find one at an antiques store and it is an actual license plate from a car - sure :) - but please no novelty license plates (like those you buy in souvenir stores that are not real plates - i.e. my friend bought a "plate" from hawaii - it was just a mass produced plate that said "hang loose" on it)

No, I understand. The ones at antique shops are real ones, they are usually just older ones.

daffyd1963- I saw the same vendor at the CKC in Tulsa. I've been looking for the name of that vendor. Did you happen to catch their name?

I've got my plate all ready to send out, but it's not from my state. Is that OK?

momos 11/15/2008 #

Sure :) as long as is a real plate thanks
