Beginner's Dotee Doll

This will be a USA only swap, (for mailing), and you will have 1 partner.

You will have 3 weeks from sign up to send by. This swap isn't profile based, so you can start before partners are assigned.

This is the site I've used to learn this new craft, but if you have other suggestions, please feel free to share them. :) I'm new to Dotee Dolls, so this will be a beginner level swap (for ability), but if you are an experienced crafter, please join us!

According to the directions, "Basically it is a simple flat art doll about 4 inches to 6 inches in size that has no arms, has a loop at the top for hanging and a decorative tail at the bottom usually made of beads. They are embellished...a lot:) They can be very simple or very complex." So, the doll should be made of fabric or felt, 4 to 6 inches in length, no arms or legs, but it should have a loop at the top and a decorative tail at the bottom. That is the requirement for the swap! Colors, decorations, embellishment is all up to the maker. This swap is not profile based. You may get something that is not like the one you made, or not to your taste, but that's ok. This is art, right? :)

If you look online for images, there is a huge variety of Dotee Doll samples. Take some time, have fun with the swap, but aside from the size, hanger and tail listed above, the doll is up to you and your imagination. Please be neat, but you don't need to be a seamstress to participate in this swap. This is a 'beginner level' swap - because I'm a beginner at this! :)

Ratings: If you receive your handmade doll with the listed size, hanger & tail, it should be a 5. Make sure anything attached is secured well, as it will be mailed and loose items may fall off in shipping.

Mailing: Wrap your Dotee carefully and send in a box or bubble mailer. You may wish to put the doll in a plastic bag or wrap to protect against it getting wet. Please purchase tracking for your doll, and keep that number in case we need to find the package. Do not post the tracking number, though.

Rating requirements: For this swap, you need to have a 4.99 or above rating, no 1's or 3's in the last 6 months, and no unresolved 1's or 3's on your record (just explain, we know life happens). You must also have a minimum of 20 completed, rated type 3 (only) swaps by sign up date. You must also have a very well filled out profile with no late swaps. There is no perfect way to detect a "good swapper", but these are the tools we have.

You will need to sign into your account within 2 days of sign up date

ONE MORE NOTE!! I know many of us have pets, some who even like to help us with crafts and swaps. If you have allergies to pet hair, this may not be a good swap for you, as the fabric and stuffing may cause reactions. Please keep that in mind.
