We're all old enough to remember childhood, teen-age, young-parent summers. Our lives have changed, we have tons of memories, some of them wonderful, some not so wonderful. Let's share how it was and how it is different now with an OFAP friend. Write a letter, include a photo or two if you can copy them. Make your letter a couple of pages. Here are some suggestions about what you might write about: * childhood games you played and what are kids doing now * where you lived growing up and where you live now and how different * did your family do summer trips and what do you do now? * what foods do you fondly remembet and do you still have them now * do you look forward to summer now more or less than you did when you were younger * how different was the house you lived in back then and the one you live in now * is there some "technology" you remember that's very different: dial phones, radios, early TV shows, car your dad drove and what you drive now *rituals your family had and that you do or don't practice now * how do you celebrate 4th of July, or some other annual event --maybe a state fair or town celebration * did you gave an unforgetable pet? If you want to just write about one or two of these suggestions, that's fine but write a letter sharing something that might be different from what your partner remembers. And write enough it will be fun to receive. This is international: I think it's fascinating to get letters from other countries. International letters go for (I think) $1.15 from the US -- I think Canadians pay more and don't know about other countries. |
