Most libraries and museums in the US are still closed due to COVID. But some have opened - virtually! I saw this article a while ago, but forgot about it. Atlas Obscura is a website and series of books, and I've subscribed to their email newsletter for a few years. They like to focus on the odd and obscure, and you can find a lot of interesting options there! For this EMAIL swap, you will have up to 3 partners, and will send your thoughts to each partner(s) in an email. You can send the email to all 3 partners, but be sure to use the BCC function. Go to 7 Spectacular Libraries and choose at least one library to do a virtual tour of. It should open up in a new window, and you might really want to do this on your computer rather than phone, because - wow! The 'tours' I did were all 360 with multiple different room views. After your virtual 'tour', in an email to your partner(s), tell them which tour you went on, and why you chose it. Was there something that drew you to your choice, or did you choose at random? Tell your partner as much about your virtual tour as you wish. :) Have you taken virtual tours before? Have you been a member of a historic library? Not part of the swap, but there was also a link for The horseback librarians and I found it interesting. I don't think I'd heard of the Bookwomen until I read "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek". There are some great old pictures in the article, for anyone interested. :) If you have any questions or comments about the swap, please send me a PM and I'll reply as soon as I can. :) |
