Description:

No, it's not a zine that is sculpted, but a zine of YOUR hand-carved images.

I recently carved a couple of stamps for a couple of zines, and I thought it would be fun to create a zine comprised only of hand-carved stamps.

Not necessarily all newly carved for this zine (over-achievers, go for it!), but more a showcase of the work you've done and would like to share.

Sound like fun? I know I'd love to have zines of your work.

If you don't know what a zine is, Google it or message me.

They are simple to reproduce and cheap to mail, so I'll assign 5 partners.

Most of us will have plenty of stamps already to choose from, so I'll put the due date about a month out.

Have fun! I'm really looking forward to receiving some awesome art!

Can we add in or write in text or does that need to be hand carved stamping as well?

It's your zine, you make it however you want. Only requirement is that the images in it be your own hand-carved stamps.

Is there a minimum number of pages for the zine, size requirements, same binding for all zines? Or can everyone decide themselves on that? When googling "zine" there are zillions of variants to be found. Will it be photocopied or will all 5 be originals?

A "standard", or at least very common, minizine is a 6 page booklet created by folding a single letter- size (8.5" X 11") piece of paper. There are many variations, but this most simple one is perfectly acceptable. You make one original and send one photocopy to each of your give partners

Another question - some of my stamps are really large. Can I make a digital copy to have it fit in the zine?

dvmac 09/17/2021 #

Hi Angie. Zines have always been a very loose, democratic, personal, form of self-expression. However you see fit to reproduce your own self-created images of fine.

And, given the nature of this swap, you could begin it right away and have them all ready to send at the send date. Which, admittedly, is something I NEVER do, lol, but will for this one.

Also, if like to pass on something I learned just recently. I've always printed my zines on regular copier paper, but the last one I used matte finish photo paper (8.5 X 11), and I was really happy with the quality of color reproduction. It's heavier, thus harder to fold than copier paper, but well worth it imho.

Thanks for the photo paper tip dvmac.
