Description:

This is an International Swap. WLS swappers - I got this idea from a discussion over on our Flickr page.

For this swap, you need to put a message on the swap page here on what hobby you really love. And no, you can't say swapping! Maybe you like drawing, canoeing, or aromatherapy? Your partner has to build you a swap package based on your hobby to the value of no less than $10 US. And at least one of the items has to be handmade.

For this one, I'd encourage you to give your partner as much detail as possible so msg back and forth, or stalk their Flickr pics or blog. There's lots of time on this one too.

Have fun with this one! And remember to ask lots of questions if you need to, it doesn't matter if this is a secret partner swap or not :)

Whole-lotta-swappa members only. http://www.flickr.com/groups/whole-lotta-swappa/ If you are not a member of WLS, you will be dropped before the sign up deadline. Just ask for an invite, if you meet requirements and let us know how to find you (per say a swap you were in or send us a link to your profile) and we will do the rest. Flickr.com is free, if you are not a Flickr member, take steps to become one, you don't have to load photos to be a member of Flickr.

Make sure you rate your partner and try to post a photo to Flickr of what you got...we all love to see, and it makes your partner feel good! :)

Whole-Lotta-Swappa is not a swap; it is a group of trusted swappers. The “hobby swap" is the swap.

WLS is a group of people who have worked on and have proven themselves worthy of being an honest swapper! If you are in this group and you are in a WLS swap, you insure yourself more, that you will get something back in the swap you are in!

If you’re interested, please visit the web site above, there’s a link and ask for an invite. BUT tell us what some of your swaps were so we can verify who you are. If your Flickr name is different than your swap-bot screen name please add it to your email. thanks!

I'm going to get the ball rolling... I think I'll put down my newest hobby - cake/cookie/cupcake making. I'm trying to be all Martha Stewart like and build yummy and pretty pretty afternoon tea treats. So anything related to that would be super fab! I have an image in my mind of pink cupcakes with ballerina figurines on top, hee hee! mmmmm.....

My latest hobby is making felt creatures. I love different kinds of felt, thread, buttons and any embellishments you can think of. I also like stickers for my simple scrapbook pages.

WillowTree21 06/ 5/2007 #

WONDERFUL Swap idea! I love it! However, I have to take care of other things first. please please lets run this one again. Or maybe I can jump in before deadline! Love it!

Craftlover10101 06/ 5/2007 #

woohoo my first WLS hehehe Thanks for the long swap date :) My latest hobby's oh that's hard. I'm always doing different stuff. I guess checking my profile would be the best or my flickr.

Craftlover10101 06/ 5/2007 #

Aw come on WillowTree lol

wolfmom2ac 06/ 5/2007 #

As much as i would love to join this swap, I have to sit this one out. I will be in and out this summer and gone for most of the month of July. But this sounds like fun! I'll just have to look at the cool pictures!!

Cloverst 06/ 6/2007 #

Hmmm. I have just started making softies. That's my new passion and I'm in need of embellishments, eyes funky fabric etc.

alwaysjoy 06/ 6/2007 #

This is fun! I can not wait to go shopping for this one!

For me my hobbies are kayaking, horses, and reading

Craftlover10101 06/ 6/2007 #

I thought about this today. Wow was it hard. I guess my biggest hobby is craft magazines. Lately trying to find things that the kids and I can all work on. They are enjoying rubber stamping, book marks and homemade post cards. That's all I can think about that is our latest thing. I hope this is the right kind of answer.

Craftlover10101 06/ 6/2007 #

oh and stuffies lol

Heather71 06/ 8/2007 #

I'm going to sign up for now and decide a little closer to the time whether I actually have enough time and money.

My latest hobby is card making, so card stock, card making magazines, peel offs etc would be greatly appreciated.

Craftlover10101 06/ 8/2007 #

I go in for surgery on the 5th lol but I still want to be in this! lol Sooooo I will be in for a week atleast. And than it has to be mailed but Aug. 31'st so I'm sure I'll have plenty of time. I am so very excited about this.
Oh i've been bustin my hump outback. Finished the fencing, cleanin up the yard etc. Building little block walls around the trees for seating. Planing on painting the block walls and maybe paint flower's or something on them. Any ideas would be wonderful. Oh I just thought, quilted patterns. Oh I'll put pictures on my flicker over the weekend so you can all see. hahaha I'm gonna be one tan fat chick in surgery lmao But I've lost 5lbs out therewoohoo! Hugs to all, I won't be around much.

DreamHope 06/ 9/2007 #

I'm all about books: reading books, writing books, altering books, making books. So perhaps my partner could send me pens, fun papers and/or card stock, a board book for altering, instructions for making an unusual book structure... whatever book- or paper-related thing you come up with will be appreciated.

Craftlover10101 06/15/2007 #

Dream hope what kind of books do you read? I have a bunch of the old victorian english types. I get them from a friend. I usually sell them on half.com but pulled them after the second surgery when I couldn't get out to do the sending. Those you have so many days to send when it's purchased. I forgot to turn it off and ended up mailing 2 late and heard poop for it even after I tried to explain.

Craftlover10101 06/18/2007 #

Hi I am sorry but I have to drop out. On the way home from my daughters field trip tonight my van broke down. I also have a few other swaps I promised privately so since they are already promised I will have to bow out of the rest. When it rains it pours. Take Care and have fun with this. I have no clue what it's going to cost to fix the van wish I had an old car now, I could have fixed it myself.

Cloverst 06/19/2007 #

I'm sorry but due to close family illness I have to drop :(

I like to make fabric postcards, so anything for this on a smaller scale, e.g., fabric, ribbon, lace, trim, buttons, embellishments, iron-ons, etc. would be great! I had someone send me some tiny crocheted flowers and medallions once that were very suitable for this. Small handmade fusibles would work too. These are just ideas in case you are stumped - anything small at all that you think would work for fabric PCs would be great! Thx!

TerryF 06/26/2007 #

I thought I would leave a few other ideas too to make it easier on my partner - if one doesn't work, hopefully another one will!

I also like making:

  • greeting/note cards, swap tags, ATC tags, etc.

  • pincushions

kateyb 06/29/2007 #

** pending my invitation to the wls group** i am a newbie to sewing and recently this hobby is taking up alot of my time so anything sewing related would be really appreciated... cute pins, rick rack, whatever (except buttons... i have TONS of buttons) and if thats too boring or easy, i also really really enjoy organic gardening.

debbi 07/ 1/2007 #

I am starting to do some hand stamped cards. I also want to start doing some of the oh, so pretty, tags that I saw on a beautiful blog. I love to cook and bake.

dandelion 07/ 2/2007 #

Hi all! This looks like so much FUN!! Let's see...I really crafts that I want to do more often:

books - altered books or bookmaking

making postcards - would love to make fabric postcards, have just been making paper ones.

knitting socks - I haven't tried this but just learned to knit with double pointed needles, so would like to give it a go.

altered bottle caps - I haven't made any but mrsD sent such cool personalized bottle caps in the forum trades that I'd like to try making some.

I love:

photography - especially using the photos to make things (postcards, bookmarks, scrapbooks, etc)

Clau 07/ 3/2007 #

This is my first WLS swap. I'm so excited. My latest hobby is creating art journals so stuff like acrylic paints, magazine clippings, gel pens etc. would be great. Also, like DreamHope, I love to read, and I like old books I can tear apart or alter.

TíaBel 07/ 3/2007 #

Yeay! My first WLS swap.

Here's a list of hobbies I'm (slowly) teaching myself to do: embroidery, beading, polymer clay, bookmaking, papier mache

yarnpie 07/ 4/2007 #

I told myself I was going to try and cut down on swapping for a bit, but this seems like too much fun! The only hobby I have that is constant is knitting socks. I've always used wool or superwash wool, it'd be fun to try something else though, like bamboo, tofu, cotton blends to make socks though. And I'm always looking for good sock patterns for multi colored yarns. I love knitting plain colors, but I already have tons of patterns for that. Anyway, hope that's enough hints :)

caracois 07/ 5/2007 #

My hobby is scrapbooking. I love doing it and used to spend hours and hours around it. Now with my baby I have less time and a lot of photos to catch up with! However, I live in Portugal where scrapbook is an unknown art... so I usually have all my 12x12 patterned papers and alphabet stickers, ribbon, brads or eyelets, buttons ordered from the US and it usually ends up a pretty expensive hobby! So anything is soooooooooo welcome... :-) I'm an easy girl to please!

TíaBel 07/23/2007 #

DreamHope, your package is on the way!

caracois 07/26/2007 #

I tried to contact both my partner and the coordinator but none of them gets back to me... I have no info on my partners hobby (well, she has lots of interests, but no hobby)... :-(
