Description:

I love donuts! All kinds really, but today we're thinkin' sprinkles.

Create a donut pincushion and cover it with sprinkles. Ideas for sprinkles: embroider them on, use beads, sharpie marks, or patterned fabric. Donut should be 2"-3" across and well stuffed.

Probably the best way to get this shape would be to make a tube and turn it. Make sense? Stuff it, handstitch the ends of the tube together, then cover with sprinkles :)

Be creative! Your donut can be any color - sender's choice. Come on! It's a donut! Enjoy!

Or you could make a top half and a bottom half, stitch EITHER the center hole or the outer rim and turn that seam inward, then overcast the other seam from the outside.

You don't want to hear about how many times I thought I could stitch both seams of a donut shape and then turn it right side out like a normal pillow. Doesn't work, folks! Didn't work the first time, didn't work the twentieth. (grumble, grumble!!)

But yah, I think you could stitch a tube (either straight which will pleat itself around the narrow hole, or curved to the donut shape) and then, like a long flexible hose, bring both ends together and overcast that seam.

Are there any other ideas for shaping the donut?

I'm partial to the hole in the middle shape myself!

Hey, another crocheting idea! If you crochet a tube and stuff it, the 'icing' on top could be felt with bugle bead 'sprinkles' sewn on before attaching. Just thinking out loud :)

Oooooh... yeah! knit or crochet could be really cool. :)

Note: Stitching the center hole first does NOT work!!! argh.
