Mail art therapy
Do you get stressed on days when there is no happy mail? Do you wish you had just a couple more people with whom to share your mail art obsession (sorry, passion)? In mail art, there is a saying: senders receive. So maybe its time to try some mail art therapy, to make more of your mail days happy ones...

Mail art therapy enables you to share your addiction with others who understand the joy of postal creativity, and simultaneously feed your need for happy mail in return. Check out this simple yet intensive 4-step program:

  1. Send your partner a piece of mail art. This could be naked mail, a decorated envie, a handmade postcard, a sheet of artistamps, a couple of ATCs. It could be pretty much anything; the only thing I will exclude for this therapy program (I mean swap) is zines, because...

  2. ...you will also send your partner a mail art-themed zine (by you). This can be any size from 'traditional' mini-zine upwards. The zine can include anything mail-art-y you like, in any combination – the following are just suggestions. It could be a visual record of mail art you have sent & received; or a gallery of your ATCs; or a mail art how-to project; or a story about things you have tried out; or reviews of related products; or an explanation of...

  3. ...the mail art kit, which you will be sending to your partner. This should comprise a minimum of 5 items that could be used in the production of mail art. It could (for example) be a kit specifically to make ATCs (e.g. blanks, glue stick, ephemera, labels for the reverse, whatever else you would normally use for an ATC), or a stamp-carving kit, or it could be a collection of whatever items are indispensable to you in the production of your mail art. If it isn't already covered in your zine, include a brief note to explain how the items of your kit can be used in the creation of mail art. And finally, your kit should be presented in...

  4. ...a container of some kind, so that your partner can have postal creativity at their fingertips, wherever they might be. The only real requirement is that it fits all the contents of your mail art kit, plus zine. What best suits your items - a box, a pouch, a stationery wallet? Be creative!

Swap requirements

  • 2 partners = 2 swaps sent and 2 swaps received
  • To successfully complete the 4-stage mail art therapy program, you must send to each partner: one piece of mail art, one mail art-themed zine, one mail art kit (containing min. 5 items), and one mail art container.
  • Item #1 – mail art – can be mailed separately from the zine/kit, if it suits the item better to do so. If sending mail art separately, let your partner know that they are expecting 2 packages, by PM and also scan/photograph your addressed/stamped item before mailing. If your mail art should go missing in transit but you can provide your partner with photographic evidence of what you sent, they must not rate you down for a part of the swap being missing.
  • Zine should be made/written by you.
  • Mail art kit should contain a minimum of 5 items. Items may be new, re-purposed, vintage, found or handmade but not used, broken or unusable!
  • Container must be large enough to contain kit & zine. It may be handmade or store-bought.
  • Please do not send your partner FBs, decos, slams, x-slips etc unless their profile specifically states they are interested in such items.

The obvious bit
You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group anyway, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, so if you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, just PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

Sounds so much fun but sadly I won't be swapping in August at all due to a vaction I will be getting ready for

This sounds terrific! One question: should the container for the mail-art kit be mailed naked, or inside of a large envie or box or whatever? I mean, which would be preferable?

@melusina - the choice is yours. :-)

I am nervous about making a zine, but I am going to go for it. :)
