Description:

It's time for Postcard Confessions, round three! In this swap, you will tell your partner: if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

In many of us, there is a deep yearning to see places we've never seen before. It could be that you've always wanted to journey north to see polar bears on the frozen tundra, or go on safari in Africa, or save baby sea turtles in Mexico, or surf the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica...or something even more exotic.

Write a note to your partner describing this amazing place that you've always wanted to see (but have never been), and what makes it so attractive to you. Don't forget that the nicest notes may also tell your reader a little something about you, whether it's directly through your facts or through the way you tell your story.

Postcards are sender's choice and can be handmade, clean vintage, or store-bought, but please let's be sure to send things you'd like to receive. Choosing a postcard illustrating the theme is nice, but not strictly required. They should be written on and stamped (no envelope), and everyone will have 1 partner, with 1 postcard to send. Easy peasy.

All the usual disclaimers: Please do not join if you don't plan on following through. If you are delayed for any reason, make sure to clearly communicate with your partner and with me. This swap is open to everyone with a well-rounded, well-filled-out profile, but those who seem risky will be deleted. And please--remember to rate your partner promptly when you get your postcard...a heartfelt confession deserves acknowledgment!

You have the most awesome ideas! Thank you for hosting that series, I'm already so much looking forward to writing that postcard.

Just like lloechen, I reckon your ideas are great. Do you actually find them elsewhere, or are they simply out of your head, happyhoneybee? I'm just interested...and I'll join in this one too thanks!

thehappyhoneybee 09/ 6/2010 #

Well @brendanobrien I've tried to find that Big Book of Postcard Writing Prompts, but no one seems to have written it yet!

I really just think about the kinds of things I'm interested in sharing with someone, and what I'd like to read about in return. I love great artwork and beautiful cards, but what's even more interesting to me is what's written on them. I've had more than enough of the "I'm fine, how are you" type cards that don't really tell me anything about my partner...I feel as though we could all be out there buying our own cards to collect, really, so what's fun to me is to receive something that makes you laugh or think about a topic in a different way.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad to have you join again.

PS--I want to go to all the places I mentioned in the swap description. sigh

Iloenchen 09/ 6/2010 #

Safari in Africa is awesome, if you ever get the change to go there, grab it. I did and I had a wonderful time!

You know, I could fill a book with the places I want to see. I'm going on a trip around the world next year and was sad to find out that no matter how long the trip, there are always lots of places I can't go. Some of them include the Silk Road, the Chinese Wall, the ride with the Transmongolian Express, the Inca Trail, the Amazonas (actually pretty much the whole of South America which I'll miss out on), Central and Western Africa, Morocco, all those ancient buildings in Egypt, an oasis in the Sahara, Petra, Scandinavia, Alaska and lots more places I won't bore you with.

Oh man, it'll be hard to choose something for the postcard.

Please no tape on handmade cards.
