May 5-11 is National Postcard Week in the U.S.! I'd love if you could make some note of it (either on front or back of the postcard) if you're assigned to me during that time! Thank you!
Hello from the US of A! My name is Allison, and I live in northern Virginia, just a little south of Washington, D.C, with my husband and our cat, Winda.
I am the daughter of a retired Marine, and have traveled a lot because of it. I love traveling - a little more than my husband is comfortable with. :) I have been all over the U.S. and parts of Asia. My dream is to visit all continents (minus Antarctica). I would love to hear about where others live and what cool things there are to do off the beaten path (non-touristy).
I am a journalist by education, but love creative writing. I've attempted writing two books, and most likely will continue to write unfinished work the rest of my life. I also love to read, so let me know what your favorite books are or what you're reading now. I love getting recommendations! My ultimate favorite is "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.
My husband and I are big TV and movie buffs. We also love to play games - video, computer, card, and board. We have too many favorites to count, but are always willing to try something new. What are your favorites? Are there games you play that we may not have heard of?
I also love sports. I'm a big university (American) football fan - Navy Midshipmen and Missouri Tigers, in particular. I also am a huge baseball fan; my favorite team is the St. Louis Cardinals.
Other hobbies I have include crochet and stamp collecting, though both are relatively new compared to my other pastimes.
I love hearing people's stories above anything else. I'm not picky in the kinds of things to be sent. Make your mail speak about you - where you're from, what you love, etc.
Can't wait to hear from you!
If you are up to it, I would love to receive the first page of the first stave of "A Christmas Carol" in your language (if it's other than English). Just rip it out of an obliging book, mail it in an envelope or paste/Mod Podge it to a piece of cardboard the same size and mail it like a postcard! I believe that collection could be amazing and I'd love you forever for it!
I'll take any postcard you want to send! I can have a pretty sick sense of humor, so feel free to be inappropriate! :)
If I'm participating in a swap that suggests sending tea, I'd much prefer coffee. We have a bean grinder, so feel free to send whole beans, or a baggie of your local ground coffee or packet of instant will be great. This is not a must, just a suggestion.
If I'm participating in a crochet swap, I would prefer medium-weight/worsted yarn. I don't have a fiber preference, but the majority of yarn I use is worsted, so it'll be easier to join it all.
I would love to have stamps if you can spare them! You can cut them from envelopes or send a sheet from the post office! I'll take whatever I can get!
I received a postcard that is a photograph of Charles Dickens and thought what fun it would be if I had more authors! So if you have postcards with authors on them, I'll take them!
I'm trying to get a postcard from every baseball stadium in the MLB. Send one my way, if you can, preferably postmarked from the stadium's city! What I need (feel free to send even if I've already marked I have it; I'm sure there's multiple PC designs for each stadium!):
