I am a Christian stay at home wife, mom and grandmother. My husband and I wanted to live a simpler life and moved to a small town of 900 people 5 years ago. We have two gas stations/convenience stores in my hometown and that is it for stores. Not even a grocery store here (it closed two months ago, due to the economy). We love it!
I have two sons; 24 and 13. My oldest son is married and I have 4 grandchildren; the girls are 9,6 and 4, my one grandson is 5.
I've been learning new ways to save money since being laid off almost two years ago. I am an avid coupon clipper, thrift store shopper and flower/vegetable gardener. I love to work in my veggie garden growing fresh produce and can/freeze whatever grows abundantly.
Now that winter is here, I keep busy doing lots of different crafts and baking.
I have tons of cookbooks and collect recipes. Most of them I have made at least once. When I find a recipe that we all like then I will continue to make it. I like to bake simple frugal breads and cakes. My family loves chocolate and so a lot of my baking is something chocolate.
I love anything paisley, vintage, victorian and burlap. Hot chocolate and trying different teas. I do not drink coffee.
MY THRIFT STORE BUYS: Cloth Napkins/Rings: I have an obsession with cloth napkins and different kinds of napkin rings. The majority of my cloth napkin collection has been found at thrift stores. I am amazed at how many nwt napkins (and gently used/no stains) I have found at thrift stores. I also enjoy making my own! Clocks: I collect old clocks and just clock faces and hands. Doilies/Table Runners: I am always on the lookout for these in white and off white. Potholders: Especially one piece oven glove potholders and pot pinchers. Vintage Aprons! Linen Kitchen Towels. Sewing notions: needles of different kinds, especially no thread needles; tiny scissors, embroidery floss. Fabric: vintage textiles and ticking.
My favorite color is turquoise/aqua... but I love all colors. Baby blues, red, orange. For me what I like is pairing colors. Turquoise with red. brown with baby blue or pink. Orange with mint green. You get the picture.
I love classic rock and listen to some alternative rock, new country and blues. My husband is a dj and drummer; my youngest son is also learning to play drums. Music is a big part of my life.
At this point in my life I don't read many novels. When I do find time to read I love true crime novels, John Grisham and an occassional steamy historic love novel.
All John Travolta movies, Pretty Woman, all Sandra Bullock movies, Jeepers Creepers, and many more!
I like all kinds of crafts. I do not crochet or knit and love to receive things that are. I like to sew, embroidery, and scrapbooking.
My projects are normally smaller projects since I get bored easily. Things like bookmarks, needlebooks/needle cases, cup cozies, atc's, postcards, small scrapbooking & rubber stamping projects are my thing.
I have an obsession with cloth napkins and napkin rings. I enjoy making my own! They are quick and fun.
Making ATC's, postcards and scrapbooking tags is a lot of fun for me. Love all the different kinds of scrapbooking papers, rubber stamps, and embellishments that can be used. I love to craft these with fabric also.

You and I should do a private swap...something itty bitty.

Your town is only a wee bit smaller than mine! We do have a grocery store and drug store though! I also like gardening and I'd love to learn how to can, any tips? I don't drink coffee either and I thought I was the only one! I love crime stories too though as an RN, I tend towards medically based ones. I also sew, embroider and scrapbook, too bad we don't live closer!

Bonjour (Hello)
I had forgotten to answer your question on my profile: " what is the color of your parakeets? My parakeets are in tones blue and whites. As you I like the gardening and the tea...

First of all I enjoyed reading your profile. It was short and to the point. I like the movies you like and the books you read when you have time. I like that you are a gardener and canner! I did those things with my Mom and Aunties growing up. I miss it. I like that you list being a Christian. I recently read something on Facebook to effect of if you are a Christian let it be known or Jesus will deny you in the face of the Lord. Your town sounds like a good place to live but where do you shop now? from one Christian to another, God Bless You, Debra (TexyDeb)
(Comment on Profile swap) Hello, I see you live in a small town, I also live rural but town is much bigger, our long term dream is to live somewhere much smaller. I'm a mum to 5 kids ranging from 7 to almost 17 and look forward to a time when my house stays clean for 1 whole day (chuckle). I can knit a scarf and would love to learn crochet but primarily just love to embroider and quilt. It was lovely to meet you, take care x
"READ MY PROFILE AND POST A COMMENT SWAP" Hello! I see that you live in a small town. My husband grew up in a place where his nearest neighbor, in any direction, was 6 miles! He says he loved it and he misses it so much. Once he retires from the Army, we are moving back to his home and living in a small town. I come from a big city (Seattle) but I am anxious to settle down in a small town. It seems to peaceful and nice :) I also love classic rock. My Grandma, who helped raise me, LOVED Classic rock so that is mainly what she listened to. Good memories :) I love your profile, thanks for sharing!
"READ MY PROFILE AND COMMENT SWAP"- Hello Lb - Nice to meet you. Small town living is wonderful isn't it! I look forward to the day when we retire and live in a small town once again. Aren't you lucky to have FOUR grandchildren. I know what it's like to have "loud" music in the house as I have a drummer son, too! Good thing you ARE in the country, ha!
