I am a part-time college instructor and a part-time group home counselor. The rest of the time I am a mom who enjoys gardening, blogging, photography, graphic design and healthy cooking.
I signed up to do this because my 3 year-old Andrew and I love to send and receive mail! He has a lot of things he likes to share and so do I. He can always use more stickers no matter what they are- he loves them all. We love going to thrift shops, antique stores and garage sales. I also have a 1 year-old daughter, Chloe.
I really love used, strange or different T-shirts. I wear a size L. I also have some clothes I would like to pass along. If I'm sending something to a partner and they have their size published and I think it would be something they would like, I usually include it no matter what the swap.
Right now there is a line at Target called Liberty of London. I am pretty much in love with everything in that line. A lot of it is paisley with the most gorgeous colors. I LOVE paisley and anything retro.
I am very much into art and literature. I would say my style is more contemporary but I do like folk art.
We love to grow things in our garden and eat natural foods mostly but we do splurge every now and then on chocolates or chip-type snacks but we are very much into organics and eating healthy. I do my best, but still eat a Reese's every now and then and love all the vintage candy so I'm less than perfect but I strive for healthy eating.
My favorite color is and will always be robin's egg blue.
I love growing poppies and I love pictures of poppies! I'm really into this retro 70's animal kick that is so popular now- the deer, owl, snail, etc. I like mushroom art. Skunks are cool.
I am probably stuck in the 90's grunge era because of my age but also it seems like I sorta stopped expanding my musical knowledge when I had kids and stopped going to shows but I am trying to expand my horizons. Recently I have been interested in the band Witchcraft.
Other "phases" I have gone through include: Hendrix, Doors, Pink Floyd addiction, Grateful Dead, Phish, etc. addiction. NOFX, Bad Religion, Operation IVY. I don't think I can ever get sick of Lagwagon!
Marie Antoinette, Adaptation, American Splendor, Lots and Lots of documentaries. . . Amelie, The Royal Tannenbaums, Blow, The Squid and the Whale, All the old Tim Burton flicks, Kill Bill, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Science of Sleep, Being John Malcovich and other great thinking movies or eye candy-type of movies. . .
The Lacuna, cookbooks, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, art books, books about China, Japan, Iraq, etc., books about sustainable living. No Logo by Naomi Klien, books on "alternative" child-rearing, One Hundred Years of Solitude, anything by TC Boyle, Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky
Acrylic painting, cross stitch, making homemade cards, pottery if I had a wheel. . . "kid" crafts with my 3 year old. I try to make at least one new ATC each night after the kids go to bed. I love to do mostly drawings using PrismaColors and Sakura Micropens.
Glitter, tea, Christmas or other holidays, overly patriotic, religious items. Also, not to be picky but I don't need little scraps of paper. You can save them for someone else (unless it goes with the particular theme of the swap). :)
Gnomes, Owls, deer, snails, mushrooms, and all other 1970's-type "retro" flora and fauna. Old-school candy, chocolate. Robots, space, sci-fi. Japanese, Arabic and all other "worldly" items. I can't create amigurumi but I would love to receive these type of items!!! Altoids tins and advertising. Anything graphic design-related, books. PrismaColors, Sakura Microperm or other fine drawing utensils. Thanks- You guys all rock!
