Hello! My name is Natalia, and I also go by Nat. I’m 29 years old and live in western Canada. My husband and I moved here in 2021. I am currently on maternity leave with my firstborn, a daughter named Christina.

I’ve always loved sending mail. Each year, I send my close friends and family cards for their birthdays and for Christmas. Sometimes, when I travel, I’ll also send postcards. Not only do I love writing and sending mail, I also quite enjoy receiving it. There’s nothing quite like opening your mailbox and seeing a letter instead of the usual junk mail and bills! This is why I joined SwapBot. I haven’t received much mail in recent years and thought it would be really cool to have a pen pal, or at least some kind of outlet for my writing and drawing and occasional bout of craftiness, and connect with others around the world to see their own work.

I have a bunch of hobbies. I like writing, whether it’s Pokémon fan fiction or academic articles (I got published for the first time last year!), and everything in between. I always loved drawing, though I’m not that great at it and I haven’t kept up with it so am quite rusty. Before I had my baby, I used to keep an artsy bullet journal complete with trackers and washi tape. I also enjoy walking - anywhere really; hiking, especially in the Rocky Mountains near Calgary; gardening - mostly fruits and veggies to feed my family; playing video games (a whole variety, on PC and Switch); reading both fiction and non-fiction; and finally baking. Sports-wise, I’ve always been a swimmer, and took up foil fencing in recent years. I also enjoy weightlifting. I like to say that I’m down to try most activities and love to learn new things.

My career is in aviation consulting. I plan and design airports, heliports and airspace. I love my job! I’ve always been an aviation nerd, and made it halfway to getting my pilot license before I had to stop due to school. I’ll get it one day, I’m sure :)
