From one newbie to another...I loved your joke!
When my son was 3, now 6, my dad taught him to say this one:
Two green beans were crossing a road. One of them got hit by a car. They took him to the hospital and the doctor said, "I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that he is going to live. The bad news is that he's going to be a vegetable."
