My name is Delphine and I live on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland Australia in a quiet suburb of Pelican Waters. I live with my husband and three sons who are all in late 20's.
I work part time at a local High School as an admin officer. I am a member of the Caloundra Quilters here on Sunshine Coast.
I love to quilt in my spare time. I have been quilting for about 3 years seriously and now consider myself past the beginner stage. Every quilt I learn something new. I do like to make soft pastel colour quilts however in 2013 I did a workshop using colours I would never have picked before and actually liked the quilt I made. Having no girls and boys who won't sleep under a girlie quilt the possibilities of creating more quilts and buying more fabric has its appeal.
I have joined a Christmas block swap here in Australia and my partner loved the block I sent her. I have joined a mug rug swap also for Christmas 2013 that was very good swapping with an overseas quilter.
I had a sewing business making lycra bathing caps, ballet outfits, leotards and bike pants. I also had a folk art business where I employed my husband to make the wooden shapes. Both business closed in 1998.
My favourite books are mysteries and some romance novels attract my attention. I loved reading Sidney Sheldon and was sad when he passed away.
I love watching English shows about buying houses. I have traced my family tree back to England and I guess that is the reason I enjoy these shows so much. When I retire the plan is for my husband (John) and I to travel to UK and Sweden to walk on the land our ancestors. worked on. 7 years ago we travelled outback Queensland and did the same and found the experience made us realise how tough the ancestors had in 1865 in a new country.
