My name is Kate. I love trees, birds, the color orange, books, and the hubby. I'm a proud resident of Oregon.
I'm Mormon. I HATE THE COLOR PINK. Other than that, I like just about all other colors in the entire spectrum.
I have a killer sense of style that's also very eclectic. I have a pair of grey Arabian pants, a tie skirt, a red dress with a tiny yellow flower print and built-in yellow corset, and many different pairs of thigh-high socks. I have a pair of brown corduroys and a multi-colored plaid shirt with many-colored buttons, lots of different hats and a long, navy trenchcoat. I have bright green dress gloves and a lime green floor-length polyester skirt. I could go on.
I love thrift stores, which is where I find some of these treasures. I love that you never know what you find; you can't go into a thrift store looking for some specific thing because you'll almost never find it, but you'll find lots of other cool stuff.
I'm a dilettante who appreciates art in most of its forms and who dabbles in most of them with a mild talent in each. Those talents include drawing, singing in choirs, dancing, theatre, clothes altering, sewing, and cooking.
My ATCs generally feature recycled and repurposed pieces of art. I like happy tape, collaging, and bright colors. I don't like the adjective "cute", but rather "cool", "beautiful" or "original" instead; I'm a writer, so I have word preferences, and my art reflects that.
I have some paint, but I find that I use it for utilitarian purposes like covering ugly labels on toy bins and ugly book covers. I enjoy good design.
Because I'm a Mormon, I have a pretty strict set of morals and I like my ATCs clean. I'd also like them clean so my children can look at my entire set, and I won't be embarrassed.
On the other hand, I'm not close-minded or bigoted. It's hard to find a balance between what's clean and what is art. For example, I enjoy graffiti art, but not gang tagging; the human body is beautiful, but can also warped into pornography.
If you want some definition of what exactly is clean, I totally understand. I'm more than willing to have a conversation with you, and I'd still love to trade with you.
Naturally, since I'm a writer, I'm also a voracious reader. My husband and I have a large personal library and we make full use of our city library. We have so many books that we don't have enough bookshelf space or enough wall space.
I read science fiction and fantasy novels and short story collections. I belong to a women's book club, and we tend to read classics and historical fiction and non-fiction. I also read any magazine I can get my hands on, whether it be Sports Illustrated or catalogs.
I'm slowly expanding my writing repertoire, but one steady place I write is at Wordpress--the link is at the top of this page. Please feel free to peruse it to get to know me better. I've been blogging for six years now and lately, I try to update weekly.

Doi! I overlooked the very first swap on my dashboard and of course that's the one I'm meant to send you an atc for. Sorry about that. And thank you for the compliments concerning my profile! :D
Howdy! I look forward to making your atc as well, but I am a bit stumped as to which swap/tag it is for. ;w; I'm in a bit of a panic because I looked through all of my messages and I couldn't find any messages from you regarding tags so I am at a loss. :c Would you mind reminding me which swap or tag it's for?
Thank you for the message about the "Embellish ATC" swap. I joined that one to learn more and you also taught me something about swapping art. I hope you like the other ATC I sent you though.
