My name is Alex, I live in Vermont in the US. I'm a huge fan of snail mail! I also love movies, space, cool socks, holographic colors, playing the ukelele, and more.

I'm also a decently good artist so I always decorate any cards I send with doodles! May sometimes also include pressed flowers or small magazine cutouts.

I go to school here in a self-directed program, where I concentrate on film studies and activism. Because of this I do a lot in my spare time! When I'm not filming a short for my class, a contest, or a film festival, I'm also a peer educator at Planned Parenthood and a Youth Representative Board Member at Outright Vermont, an organization that supports and provides resources for LGBTQIA+ youth.

I also TRILINGUAL! My father is German and my mother is Spanish, so I didn't learn English until I actually went to school here. I'm excited to hopefully get paired sometime with someone from a Spanish or German-speaking country so I can practice my spelling (I speak "kitchen language", as in, I speak it to my parents and extended family when I visit them, I don't get a chance to learn to write well!)

You can see that I'm an absolute newbie, but hopefully that will change soon! I already have a few pen pals going and I'm so excited to have stumbled upon this website.

I love going to concerts, but nothing happens here in VT, so not many known artists come here, but I live quite near to Montreal so I often go there for concerts! I also live near two local concert-bar type establishments, so even if I don't know the artist, I love to just go and discover new music.

I don't play many instruments, but my love for the ukulele will never die. I'm also experimenting with the guitar, so hopefully that will take me somewhere! I'm also attempting to write my own songs, but that's not going very well...

Please recommend me books, I'm a very picky reader and nothing has met my standards recently! I love things that are unique, with beautiful descriptions, creative plots, and developed characters. I like my books like I like my movies.

As I stated before, I'm pursuing a career in the film industry. I am an absolute movie fanatic. Some of my favorite directors include Wes Anderson, Xavier Dolan, and Ridley Scott.

My favorite kinds of movies are the ones with beautiful visuals and unique characters. Something impacting and out of the ordinary, and if it leaves me crying at the end, they did a great job.

I love going to the movie theater by myself. We have a very local alternative movie theater called the Roxy here, it's so local that sometimes there's no one in the theater but me. They play beautiful movies there, it's probably my favorite place in the world.

Currently I'm binging The X-Files, but I'm also sitting patiently for more Steven Universe and the last episode of Gravity Falls! Some others of my favorite TV shows are

I'm also a huge fan of the podcast Welcome to Night Vale. Absolutely adore it. If you haven't listened to it and like fantasy, alternative universe, and slightly creepy stories, this is the thing for you.

I mentioned I like to art! I've actually participated in a few art galleries. I keep a daily journal filled with the most random of things, from drawings to cutouts to taping in things I found on the street. Will definitely draw on any surface of a package or a letter.

I also love plants, especially succulents, but I have the complete opposite of a green thumb unfortunately. I can't see to keep a plant alive as much as I try. Advice needed.

I also love small things - small erasers, trinkets, sea shells, you name it. I'm also a huge fan of rocks, minerals, gemstones, etc.!

I also adore milk chocolate, caramel products, mint anything, lip balm, art supplies, green tea, and unique socks!

I'm a fan of colorful, amusing, unique and artistic postcards! I always try to send those as well.

I also have some allergy requirements, unfortunately! I'm allergic to

• Nuts and Peanuts (except almonds and hazelnuts)

• Legumes (except green and soy beans. Please be careful will gluten-free items, as they may contain chickpea flour!)

• Shellfish (but I don't think any of us will be sending that through the mail) It's ALRIGHT if something is processed in or says "may contain peanuts"!

I'm not religious, so please don't send me anything religious-esque.

I'm also not a fan of glitter cards, but I won't hate it if you send me one. They're just not really my thing.

I also don't like dark or white chocolate, or black licorice.
