UPDATE OCTOBER 2024 : It has been awhile since I've updated my profile. Can you believe it is already October 18, 2024? The time just seems to get away from us. This year has been very stressful for me. In January my husband had a very bad COPD episode and we almost lost him. It really took a toll on him and he is not the same. He is 83 and can barely get around. He does have a walker and that helps. But for the most part he is does nothing but sleep. It's life changing for me. My granddaughter went into labor six weeks early and we have our first great granddaughter born on July 8th. They were in the hospital for five weeks. My daughter and son in law moved to Indiana from Florida in February to be closer to us to help with her dad and also his parents because they are both in their 80's and not doing well. They had lived in Florida for 29 years. My son in law became ill and died very unexpectedly on September 22. Everything is in God's planning and we keep on going. I still manage to walk over 20,000 steps a day and have kept off 105 pounds. HERE WE ARE IN AUGUST of 2022 already. The past two or three years have been so hectic with COVID 19 and all the restrictions that it brought about. It's so nice that the kids are back in school and back to a some what normal routine. I hope all of you are doing well. I am doing well; sticking to my healthy eating AND walking! With all of the side effects from my medications I could barely walk during the year of 2019. I am now walking 20000 to 30000 steps a day! Yes, you read that correct. It isn't a typo error. I push myself but I have lost almost 100 lbs and feel so much better. I still have arthritis in my knees but praise God I don't have pain unless it is raining a lot.
UPDATE---JANUARY 1, 2020 Happy New Year Everyone. I hope this will be a year of great blessings for all of you. I am doing much better. Since my episode with the side effects of medication I have been on a "health kick". I am now down to only three pills a day from 17! Yes, 17 but lots of them were over the counter--fish oil, cinnamon, calcium, turmeric, etc. I am eating healthier and have lost 32 lbs. And, no I am not looking for those lost pounds! They can stay lost. Since my change in diet, etc. my doctor has taken me off of most of my prescribed meds and I feel so much better.
Hello, I am Sandy from Indiana. I love postcards and have collected them since I was a child. I love receiving postcards and reading what others have to say. It's my way of traveling around this big wonderful world we have. I love sending postcards to others that enjoy them. As for what kind of postcards I like, I prefer the tourist type. You know, the ones that show your home town; scenery, buildings, etc. I really don't like funny, nude, b & w, ad cards, art or home made. I DO NOT CARE FOR ZAZZLE or HOME MADE POSTCARDS.
I've lived in the same Hoosier town all of my life. My husband and I will be celebrating our 58th anniversary on March 26, 2025. We have four children. They are all married and they have given us 12 wonderful grand children ranging from 12 years to 36 years old. We lost twins Liam and Leo at birth in 2017. We have three great grandsons. Levi is six, Miles is three and Ollie will be 2 in May. I am retired.
I love all holidays. I love to make home made gifts for birthdays and Christmas. I love to bake and make candy. I love to write. It seems to be a lost art with the younger generation. What better way to brighten someones day then to go to the mailbox and find a written letter! I am trying to get my grand daughters into writing letters, notes and sending thank you cards. I even have two of them now doing postcards. Emma even has entered them as her 4-H project the past seven years. She has won grand champion with her exhibit several years. I am so proud of her. If anyone would like to send her a postcard for her collection message me and I will give you her name and address. I send many cards as part of our church card ministry. I keep a journal and have for many years.
POSTCARD UPDATE FEBRUARY 2020 I like my postcards to be written on and touristy. For swaps that call for them to be blank and in an envelope I do not mind getting non tourist that way I have some for swapping when a swap asks for non tourist.
I love teddy bears, heart things, stationery, note cards, address labels and recipe cards. These are the cards you write your recipe on. I've had many think this means recipe postcards. I have over 150 recipe cards in my collection of recipe cards. I collect cookie cutters. At one time I collected teddy bears and things that are heart shaped. My favorite color is lavender. My favorite flowers are daisy, lilac and jonquil. I love the smell of rain and anything freshly baked.
I don't like candles, sports, insects, mice, snakes, perfume or strong smells, or crude and vulgar items. I DO NOT drink tea or coffee. I do not like anything that is spearmint.
I love the good old fashion Rock-n-Roll music from the 50's and 60's. I listen to country and Christian music.
I enjoy mystery movies. I seem to watch a lot of Disney movies. Guess all of those grand kids have influenced me. I love to watch movies on the Hallmark, Up and Life channels.
I watch a lot of Food Network shows. I love to try the recipes they make on the shows. I also watch Reba, Heartland, Cedar Cove, The Good Witch and lots of Disney. Seems like when I find a good show then it goes off and I need to search for something else to watch.
I've begun to make flip books, junk journals and some cards.
I love to scrapbook.
I also like to sew and quilt. I have made all of the grandchildren a patchwork quilt.
I used to crochet. I inherited crochet books from the early 1900's from my grandmother and made some doilies from the patterns in them.
After my mother died I wrote a cookbook for family members. Not only did the book have recipes but it was written in story form---telling the story behind the recipes. I also wrote an autobiography and gave it to each of my children and some of my cousins for a Christmas gift several years ago. I love genealogy and have traced my family back to the 1700's. I am a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of America. I was a leader for 34 years. I love keeping in contact with girls from my troops and seeing what wonderful young ladies they have become.
At this time my wish list is: stationery, note cards, any scrapbook paper, stickers for scrap booking, die cuts for scrap booking, sticky notes and postcards. I do not collect stamps but love the different stamps that come on my mail. I save them and pass them on in some of my swaps if I know the person I'm swapping with collects them.
UPDATE AS OF July 2, 2018.
Update for postcards--- My newest collection is Coke, Santa, Provinces of Canada with the name of the Province on the card and the large Love state cards. I have just started collecting Roadside Attractions---you know, the ones that are like the largest ball of yarn, largest basket, rocking chair, etc. Since joining Swap Bot I have found so many types of postcards for collecting. Some don't interest me but I have added to collecting some that are not the typical tourist cards.
POSTCARD UPDATE FEBRUARY 2020 I like my postcards to be written on and touristy. For swaps that call for them to be blank and in an envelope I do not mind getting non tourist that way I have some for swapping when a swap asks for non tourist.
Thanks for any help with these!
