About Me

I am a single mumma of 4 children, ages 10-18. We live in Missoula, the funkiest town in Montana, USA.

I work fulltime as a paralegal/legal secretary.

Things I Love

*Charlie & Lola

*vegetable gardening (I have a small vegetable garden and herb patch. I am fairly new to this, so if you have any 'beginner tips' feel free to send them my way!)

*flowers (My favorite flowers are roses, peonies, lavender, sweet peas, lilacs...and did I mention roses?)

*antiques and vintage (especially 1940's & 50's vintage items from England)

*ballet

*baking (especially Christmas goodies!)

*cooking, especially vegan cooking

*herbal tea (not chamomile or mint)

*mixed CD's

*Christmas gift tags (especially unique & well-made handmade ones!!)

*Victorian ephemera

*all things British (“Keep Calm and Carry On”, Cath Kidston, Union Jacks, phone boxes, double decker busses....)

*reading

*the colour pink

*domestic life on the homefront during World War II

*writing actual, old fashioned, brought-by-the-postman letters

Favourite Colours: pink (but not hot pink), cream, white, pale green

Things I'm Not So Keen On

*alcohol

*smoke

*anything containing caffeine (even “decaffeinated” tea)

*anything “off-colour” or "naughty"

*social media (FaceBook, Twitter, MySpace, et cetera)

*chocolate (I am probably the only woman on the planet who doesn’t fancy the stuff!)

*Jane Austen

*Robert Frost

*Dr. Suess

*television (our TV is just a tool for watching DVD’s)

*plastic things

Wish List

*white handkerchiefs with white only (not coloured) embroidery. (Bonus points if it has one of my initials - K or J - on it.)

*English sixpences (I prefer the ones with Elizabeth on them, as they have such a pretty thistle motif on the back.)

*sealing wax

*fabric with pink roses on

*woolen socks (for US shoe size 8 or European shoe size 39)

*Charlie & Lola band-aides

*a Charlie & Lola brollie

*beeswax candles (scented candles give me migraine)

*round white crocheted doilies (vintage or otherwise)

*a stamping stamp that says "Happy Christmas" (because all I can find in the States are "Merry Christmas" ones, and that just won't do)

*pretty stationary (I write up to 20 letters per month....I can NEVER have too much stationary!)

*funky T-shirts in size Medium to Large (a Union Jack one would make me exceedingly happy!)

*"pinafore style" aprons (the ones that tie around the neck and around the waist - sort of like a combination of a bib and an apron, as I am, shall we say, less than tidy when I bake...)

*pillowcases with pink roses on (because one can never have too many pink roses in one's bedroom)

*La Redoute prints of pink roses (see above)

*sweets and cookies/biscuits from other countries

*cashmere scarves

*skeleton keys

*'Keep Calm & Carry On' items (a mug or - dare I hope? - a poster would make my day)

*Weleda Everon lip balm

*anything from the "Evelyn" line from Crabtree & Evelyn

Son #1:::Union Jack items, duct tape (tie-dye, patterned, neon, etc.), vintage VW Westy items,

Son #2:::elephants (with their trunks up - trunk down is bad luck)

Son #3:::camping items, fly-fishing items, Norse mythology, licorice

Favorite Items to Swap

*greeting cards, note cards and stationery

*herbal tea bags (no black, green or white tea - not even "decaffeinated"...also, I'm allergic to chamomile and I detest mint)

*sweets/candy

*beads

*ribbon

*vegetable seeds for gardening

*recipes (I love to do recipe swaps! I am a vegetarian bordering on vegan so my diet is somewhat limited. However, foods I am able to consumer are: fruit, leafy greens, veggies, etc. Pretty much anything that doesn't include meat or cheese.)

Favorite Crafts

*I mostly enjoy the sort of crafts that produce useful things. I like to collage, make greeting cards, repour new candles from used ones and repurpose and upcycle clothing.

Favorite Music

Enya, Adele, Rob Thomas/Matchbox 20, Madonna, Josh Groban, Celine Dionne,

I DO NOT LIKE: heavy metal, rap, most country & western, grunge,

Favorite Books

I am a devotee of Shakespeare. The annual tour of Shakespeare in the Parks is like a high holy day for me. I am also a huge fan of Henry David Thoreau, L.M. Montgomery, and Charles Dickens.

My favorite books include To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Jamie Oliver’s cookery books (all of them)

Comment: I ended up rating a 5 because I did love the lunchbox love notes but it was quite late. Also, the swap called for a letter but that's not what I received just a note card.
Response: The letter was written on the notecard.
