I love art, poetry, dance, travel, coffee, the awkward Yeti comics, doughnuts, scribbling on paper napkins and in notebooks. I love notebooks, and stationery. I love sending and receiving snail mail.
I've never done swaps, but it sounds like something I'd love.
This year, I'm opening up myself to trying new things and meeting new people from different countries through snail mail. I think it's my way of travelling =).
• Postcards (no ad postcards, please): I’d love to know where you’ve been or what about that postcard makes you want to send it to me. I often send postcards with notes explaining why I chose them.
• Stationery: I love envelopes, post-its, ribbons, new pens, colour-pens, any kind of pens really! Handmade paper, pretty paper with any kind of character to it!
• Pebbles, stones, sand, leaves, flowers, petals, feathers (that are picked off the ground and not plucked, please): I prefer something picked off the road you walked on that tells a story of what happened that made it memorable.
• Small drawings, paintings, doodles, mail art, origami: I love art, I make art. I doodle, paint and draw. I’m trying to get myself to learn origami and make some mail art. To me, art is personal. I’d love to receive some and share some pieces of art that is personal to you.
• Written down thoughts, poetry, prose, something that inspires you: I don’t write as often as I’d like to. But words touch me. I love reading peoples words and connecting with them.
• Favourite recipes: I used to love cooking. Somewhere along the way, I stopped. I do want to get back to it and I figure since I experiment with cooking, I’d love to use recipes from around the world. However, if you could send recipes with ingredients that are available in India (look it up, please? The contents and availability) I’d love that.
• Swatches of fabric that have some meaning, along with a small contextual note
• Photographs, tales of travel, places to visit, experiences had: Stories about dogs, cats, animals of any and all sorts are entirely welcome. I have so many stories to share about my 3 dogs and other animals =)!
• Articles with religious sentiment and political opinions: I would love it if images of Cathedrals and news about them are sent as pieces of art. However, newspaper clippings, photographs expressing dissent or consent or anything vaguely controversial- I’d prefer not to receive.
• Food Items: I live in India, so by the time it reaches me, odds are it wouldn’t last, thank you for the sentiment, but please refrain?
I’d like to believe that I’m a multi-cultural person and hugely appreciative of art, culture and experiences. As long as there is a story to tell and it’s your own, I’d love to hear it. I’m on swap-bot so that I can interact with people from different parts of the world and experience them as I experience travel.
I’m not entirely sure how swap-bot works, yet. But I’d love to give it a try. I also hope to swap some art. I am an artist with a small hand-crafted business called Hot Pink Frangipanis and a sub-company called Leanne’s Soul Art (for now, I have a page on Facebook).
The postal regulations here in India are a bit tight with regard to what to send, so I’m testing the waters =)! Also, mail from me might take about 2-5 weeks to reach (I just got a message from someone who received a letter I'd sent to South Africa almost 6 weeks after I sent it). Please be patient =) I do send out all my swaps on time and most often, earlier than require =)!
I’ve been a part of post-crossing groups and it takes about 2-5 weeks for people in the US and further European countries to receive mail.
