Surprise, cancer. I am now 4 months post my first radiation treatment. I am now starting to feel more normal. And ready to get back to playing with scissors and glue
The details. Mel. Mom to an 19 yr old and 18 month old. Stepmom to a 7 year old. Blogger. Crafter. Aspiring artist and author. Bejeweled Blitz addict. Hopeful Romantic. Dork. Complete and utter dork.
First and foremost, needle crafts. I started cross stitching when I was a kid and still do to this day! Currently learning to knit and crochet.
I like to make things out of other things, trash to treasure type of stuff. Most of my creations are made from repurposed items. Found objects.
I have only just recently started doing the inchies, ATC's, etc. Yeah, I am a late bloomer. Although I confess, my ATC's are made from recycled playing cards.
I hand-sew but got a sewing machine for Mother's Day. I also bought my first embroidery machine, as I was feeling ambitious. Interested in trying quilting.
scrapbooking. i started out using the classic die cuts and etc, but soon found i am more into the non-traditional. apparently i have been a junk journal kind of girl all along.
Knitting. Still learning.
The Walking Dead. VERY glad AMC is back on DISH.
Musicals. LOVE. As in pink, puffy heart love with double exclamation points.
Pride and Prejudice. Sense and Sensibility. *Le Sigh, two of my favorite movies.
I confess, I love kiddo movies. Disney and Pixar are big contributors to my DVD collection.
I have not been a big television watcher, until this past year...I was on bed rest with the newest (she is a preemie.) New loves: Breaking Bad. Dr Who. Once Upon a Time.
Next on my playlist; True Blood. Game of Thrones. Mad Men.
Pretty eclectic taste in books. I don't do romance, although I confess I have used a few in my creations. You just can't pass up phrases like heaving bosoms and throbbing member....
Les Miserables. I read it every year. Still my favorite book. Was also my very first musical to see.
I prefer my vampires to NOT sparkle....I have neither read nor watched anything Twilight.
I did love The Hunger Games. Also The City of Ember.
Harry Potter, naturally.
Janet Evanovich-the Stephanie Plum series. what a hoot!
Mostly I read fiction. But I have recently fallen in love with Mary Roach and her quirky non-fiction.
Oh I love stuff. I collect all sorts of trinkets to use in my crafts; bottle caps. keys. bullet casings. shotgun shells. hardware. clock parts. interesting pictures. I am drawn to the odd. the quirky. the unusual. :)
I also love things to keep; pulp fiction covers and quirky, vintage photos. Foreign stamps.
also vintage valentines, i prefer the ones that have been used. my favorite are the weird ones or the anthropomorphic.
Favorite Color- Green
Favorite Numbers- 13 and 31
Favorite Holiday: tie between Halloween and Christmas. vintage Halloween and Christmas are my favorites.
I do not wear perfume or make-up.
Allergic to silver and cats.
I like to make stuff. it's my outlet. I also have a lot of great ideas and make more than i need for my own household. so, i like to surprise my friends with little gifts from time to time...it's more fun to get a letter or a postcard or a little something in the mail other than a bill!
I prefer not to get overly religious items
I am not a cutesy kind of scrapper...I prefer interesting and vintage ephemera.
I love hardware and clock parts.
Love, love, love to bake. Don't always have a lot of time though.
I utilize my crock pot a lot. With all my creative endeavors and a preemie, I have just tiny bits of time.
If you send me any recipes: think quick, easy....I need to be able to throw it in the crock pot/oven and not have to babysit it.
Cats. Twilight.
