I'm always interested in exchanging letters or private swaps. If you are interested too, please send me a message.
I received a "1" rating for a Stuff the Mailbox Swap. I have tried to contact my partner multiple times, but she has not responded to any of my messages. I would like to resolve this as soon as possible.
I received a "3" rating from a veteran swapper who requested a resend for a ratings booster postcard swap. I thought resends were a positive thing, but apparently I was mistaken.
Please let me know if you don't receive a swap. I am happy to resend.
I'm a librarian, book lover, aspiring writer, and rescued dog owner. My dog is an american bulldog/boxer/pit bull mix, so I love anything with bullies on them.
I love writing and anything that goes along with that, like pens and stationery. I have lots of both! I also just discovered fountain pens. I always thought they were very expensive and out of my reach, but I have found some inexpensive ones that I enjoy practicing with.
When I was a child, I had an uncle who encouraged my reading and writing. He always gave me books as gifts and he wrote letters to me all the time. It was so much fun sending and receiving letters! As I got older, I sent letters to my friends, but no one ever reciprocated. I eventually stopped, but I kept buying cards and paper. Now I am glad to meet people who are excited to send me letters too!
Some other things I like: Coffee (especially dark roast) and tea. Anything with cups and saucers and coffee beans and tea bags on them. My favorite tea is lapsang souchon, which no one else I know likes! It's really strong, so I understand, but it would be nice to meet someone else who likes it. I love other hot drinks too, from hot chocolate to cider.
I also love traveling, so anything with maps on it, or British or French things is nice. I have travelled extensively in the US, for business and for vacations. I have only left the US once, when I drove to Winnipeg, Canada while on a business trip. Seattle is my favorite place that I have been to. I love Seattle! Someday I hope to go to travel abroad and go to places like London and Paris and Australia. Or pretty much anywhere!
My favorite color is blue. I especially like blue and yellow together like a Van Gogh painting. I love him!! I like impressionists like Monet too. I like all shades of blue from teal to navy. I also like cool greens and purples. I'm not a big fan of red or orange, but they are nice sometimes, like for a fall display.
My favorite kinds of music are grunge and alternative music, but I also like many different kinds of music, from classical to bluegrass. I love all the Seattle bands from Nirvana to the Presidents of the United States of America. Pearl Jam is my most favorite. They rock! I love all the 80s hair bands and one hit wonders like Men Without Hats. Safety Dance is the best! In recent years, I have gotten into alternative country. A local body shop has a monthly open mic where people play bluegrass and string music. So much fun! I always love to experience new music.
I like a wide variety of books but science fiction is my current favorite. I love Neal Stephenson and William Gibson. I really enjoyed The Martian and Ready Player One. Ender's Game is a brilliant book that everyone should read, whether they like science fiction or not.
I also like mysteries, especially ones where I can't figure out the ending. Some favorites are Dick Francis and Robert Galbraith (People make fun o the books cuz they are written by JK Rowling, but they are so good!).
And speaking of JK Rowling, I love the Harry Potter series. Another series I love is the Stephanie Plum series. Quite a combo, I know, but they are both so good in their ways! I enjoy listening to them on audio in my car.
I love traveling and reading about traveling. I even love to read tourist guidebooks! Bill Bryson is my favorite travel writer. I love funny travel memoirs.
I belong to a book club, and I love it. We choose the books together, and sometimes people pick books I would never read on it my own. It is interesting and challenging to read books outside my comfort zone.
A wide variety!
*The Matrix
*Sense and Sensibility
*Singing in the Rain
*Safety Not Guaranteed
*Bride and Prejudice
*The Edge of Tomorrow
*Minority Report
*Persuasion
*National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
*Whale Rider
*The Incredibles
*The Princess Bride
*Monty Python and the Holy Grail
*Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie)
*Health documentaries like Forks Over Knives
I don't watch much TV these days. When I can, I try to catch Modern Family. I'm a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the tv show), The X-Files, Will & Grace and Frasier. I love all of the remakes coming out!
I don't have cable or Netflix, but the local stations show lots of old reruns that I love. I also watch a lot of PBS. I love Nature, Frontline, and Masterpiece Theater. If only Downton Abbey hadn't ended! That was such an amazing show. I love the PBS cooking shows too, especially The Jazzy Vegetarian and Patti's Mexican Table. Patti is just charming!
I started Bullet Journaling last November. It's my bullet journal anniversary! I am also getting better with my fountain pens! I enjoy using them to write to new friends. I have always loved journals, notebooks, writing and stationery. I also enjoy crocheting and cross stitch. I can knit, but not very well. I much prefer crocheting. I like crafting, but I am definitely a beginner. I have had to make crafts for my job at the library, and they turned out OK, but I have never done them on my own. I'm fascinated by the videos I've seen of pocket letters, happy mail, and flip books. I'm excited to try making all of them. And I just took my first Zentangle class! I've bought a few Zentangle supplies and I look forward to making more tangles.
Here are some random things I like:
My new favorite obsession is mason jars!
Washi tape! Where has this been all my life?!
Butterflies, ladybugs, dragonflies, bees, and other cute bugs
Owls, foxes, frogs, turtles, elephants
Renoir, Matisse, van Gogh, Monet, Klimt
Vivaldi, Bach, Liszt
Cute aliens (not scary ones)
Musicals (Hollywood, Broadway & Bollywood)
Astronomy and outer space
The ocean
Underwater creatures, especially cuttlefish and octopus. They are amazing!
Healthy vegan food
Fun shaped paperclips

Hello Mary!
My name is Elena. I am from the Philippines. It's nice to meet a librarian here in swap-bot 😊
Like you, I also love books. Nobody encouraged me. It is just that as a child, I always see my father reading a colorful magazine, Newsweek. So in order for me to understand what is written between those colorful pages, I strive to learn the alphabet and eventually settled on reading anything I see.
I am also into pens. My favorites are Pilot and Sakura. I started with fountain pens when my sister bought me a Platinum Plaisir when she went to Japan. As my practice pen, I use Platinum Preppy. I am also enbaling my nephew and niece to use fountain pens.
I also like Van Gogh paintings. My favorite Filipino painter is Fernando Amorsolo because like Van Gogh, he also painted landscapes. His paintings like a window to my country's past.
I joined Postcrossing last August only. Are a member too?
I also have penpals and I am always excited to read their letters and write my replies. 😊
Take care. Happy holidays/Merry Christmas!
Elena

Hi Mary! I see we actually have so much in common. The first thing I noticed is that you have a dog and I’m actually a huge dog lover myself! They are too precious. I also LOVE coffee but am not sucha big fan of tea. I never liked it for some reason. But I also love hot chocolate very much.
I really like alternative music too. My favorite bands are Twenty one Pilots, Panic! At the Disco, and Gorillaz; they’re really worth the listen. I’m also a big Disney fan so seeing The Incredibles on your fave movies made my day. Happy Holidays and Happy swapping!

Good Morning Mary,
I hope this little message finds you doing well. While reading your profile I noticed that you love coffee and I just read a profile where they didn't like coffee which I am one of those people also. hahaha Although I don't like coffee I do however love sweet iced tea. McDonalds has the best. I hope you have a wonderful day. Keep your head up. HUGS
I will see what I can find at my local DT for washi designs.

Hi Mary!
Thank you for the great planner swap! Believe it or not, I have never been to a Tuesday morning. You can bet I will stop by the next time I go to the city!
