Howdy! My name is Marissa and I live in a small rural town in Texas; near a big city, so I guess you can say I get the best of both worlds, sort of.
I enjoy a great many things...mainly reading, writing, baking, crafting and letting my creativity flow.
The idea of ADVENTURE excites me (think "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" 2013 not 1947 although the 1947 version is FANTASTIC in it's own way). I would love to travel to Iceland one day. But adventure to me doesn't have to be to a faraway place. I try to venture out to different towns I have yet to explore. That to me can be an adventure in and of itself.
I also have a quirky sense of humor. "I am not eccentric. It's just that I am more alive than most people. I am an unpopular electric eel set in a pond of catfish" -Edith Sitwell.
Lightning Round: I prefer to watch musicals over movies, I ALWAYS sing in the car, I have one dog, one cat, and one son :D. I speak Spanish and am learning Portuguese and Korean. I am vegan, and lastly my favorite color is yellow! Whew...So all of this is just a sneak peak into my personality. Enjoy!
I Love music of all kinds. My all time favorite band is The Fray. I saw them in concert (October 2016) and they were AMAZING!!! I really enjoy K-POP, alternative, folk, some pop, oldies, Country, punk, rock, and some R&B. Oh and of course I love show-tunes XD
Some people I listen to are: BTS, EXO, The Wombats, Al Bairre, Twenty One Pilots, The Chainsmokers, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, George Ezra, Blake Shelton, Randy Houser and many, many more.
I enjoy all forms of paper crafting from card making to scrap booking. I keep an art journal and that tends to relax me.
Things that inspire my creativity are the quirky, random, hidden, old, forgotten things in life. The "out of the ordinary" things/people. "To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour..." Auguries of Innocence -William Blake.
The author I am really enjoying right now is Jenny Lawson. She is absolutely unique and hilarious! I highly recommend you check out her books. Let's see...I also enjoy mysteries and suspense novels. Classic books pique my interest as well (i.e. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina, etc). On rare occasions I do indulge in biographies. Through reading I have lived many lives and have adventured to a great many places. As you can see I do also enjoy quotes. "I read so I can live more than one life in more than one place"- Anne Tyler "That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet."- Jhumpa Lahiri. "I'm quite illiterate, but I read a lot." J.D. Salinger.
Some of my favorite authors include: Jenny Lawson, Jane Austen, John Green, Liane Moriarty, Nicholas Sparks, Linda Lael Miller, Gillian Flynn, Ray Bradbury, and more.
Ah now on to movies. I absolutely love classic black and white movies/musicals. People use to be so talented back in the day. I also enjoy watching Pride and Prejudice, the mini series especially, but I love Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy in the 2005 version. I am a sucker for just about any romantic comedy and do enjoy a good drama every now and then when I'm feeling a little melancholy.
Action movies are always great but the plot has be good for it to keep my interest. I enjoy the Marvel movies and the Star Wars movies. I geek out when watching them sometimes.
I do get curious when a book is made into a film so every now and then I will watch one of them to compare it to the book but I'm sure you know the result of that. That's right not good enough. Books are always better! In my opinion of course.
Because I am a mom and have a son I do enjoy watching Animated movies that come out, for example; Big Hero 6, Storks, Zootopia, Planes, etc.
I enjoy watching British shows like Doc Martin, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Queen Victoria, The Crown, and Doctor Thorne.
I have seen all of Parenthood, Gilmore Girls, New Girl and am up to date on The Big Bang Theory. I watch The Voice, America Ninja Warrior, and many different shows on Food Network and HGTV. Oh and I love the movies they show on the Hallmark Channel with the exception of Holiday movies. (I don't celebrate Holidays)
Oh and I LOVE watching Football!!!
Random things I'd appreciate getting in the mail:
Anything Animal related (I love all animals hence the fact that I'm vegan) especially SHARKS and TURTLES!
All craft related material (i.e. washi tape, scrap paper, stickers, stamps, magazine clippings, photos, etc)
Book Paraphernalia
Quotes (Obviously)
Beach related items (I LOVE the beach, it is magical)
The color yellow (mustard/golden yellow to be exact)
Nature (send me a feather, a leaf, or even a pressed flower and I'd be a happy camper-anything along those lines :D)
Vintage Ephemera
Pride and Prejudice Anything
I appreciate HANDMADE/CREATIVE things. I can tell that a lot of effort goes into these type of things. The QUIRKIER the better.
Anything you'd like to send really I would greatly gush over
Please NO HOLIDAY or RELIGIOUS items...
Thank you!
