HELLOOOO! It has certainly been quite a long time since I have participated in any swaps...but I miss it and I miss all the fun things showing up in my mailbox and more importantly, I miss making and writing and sending.
I am a sassy lady in my 30s with a husband of almost 10 years and a 6 year old daughter. We have two cats that are fat fuzzballs and a "neglected" beta fish. I have an art therapy BA and am starting grad school (again) this fall. I love sending and receiving mail. I love mail art. I've been creating and crafting and using my imagination for as long as I can recall. I helped start an art gallery collective that was open for over two years. And now, in addition to my part time job and adulting, I have my own arty business, art studio and actively sell at a variety of art and craft fairs.
My original crafting love is for paper and many different paper crafts: card making, postcard making, collage, making journals... I also love making earrings and I wear them everyday!
I think I want to start making zines again.
I love painting with watercolors. Much of my painting focuses on body positivity and representing larger bodies not often seen in modern fine art.
I Love to collect papers and I LOVE vintage magazines for use in collage. I have a neat collection of National Geographic Magazines from the early 1930s and the entire 1986 collection of Playboy Magazine... hehe!
Along with paper crafts I'm a sucker for all sorts of embellishments: WASHI TAPE, brads/fasteners, some stickers, die-cuts, acetate cut outs...
I LOVE sakura micron pens and liquitex inks!
I have been experimenting with working in altered books and have been journaling and art journaling for years.
I have also had some experience with enameling on copper base metals but I don't currently have my set up in my studio. I also enjoy photography along with my husband. We have all the equipment for a darkroom but not enough room in the studio...
I like a pretty wide variety of music, but this is some of what I've been listening to lately:
Milky Chance, Grade, At-the-Drive-in, Mirah, Interpol, Rilo Kiley, Maggie Rodgers, Alkaline Trio, Jets to Brazil, Jawbreaker, Regina Spektor, Cat Power, Santigold.....
Richard Brautigan,
Chuck Palaniuk,
John Fante...
