Yes there are a variety of vegetarian food here in SG. We have the Chinese style vegetarian and the Indian / Hindu style as well. You can find them in Hawker Centres and restaurant. I personally recommend for you to try the Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant in Quality Hotel - 201, Balestier Road, Singapore 329926. I've been there a few times and the food is oh-so-gooood! Also the service is pretty good too. If you happen to be around the area, do look out for this traditional Chinese style vegetarian food.
One place that you would have to visit and definitely iconic is the Singapore River along Raffles. You can see the Merlion "spitting-out its saliva". Haha!... Well technically its the river water. The night scene is pretty lovely too! You may also would like to take the Singapore Flyer in the evening to view the sunset overlooking the city.
Also, as for travelling, you do not have to worry much because the MRT - Mass Rapid Transit here, similarly like the train station is pretty fast and convenient and affordable and definitely easy to "read". We are a small little tiny country so travelling time at most will not take that long unless you are travelling to the West from the East, it will take approximately 45 mins to an hour.
I welcome you to Asia!! Since you are a vegetarian, you do not have to worry about food too much because its very easy to find vegetarian food here... Vietnam is also very famous for their fresh vegs. I hope you'll have a good time here (:
