I work as a Phlebotomist and have been in the medical field for over 20 years. I am an Army Brat who was fortunate enough to experience several countries growing up. However, my experience was limited compared to my older syblings since I came along at the tail end of Dad's career. I would love to travel more as an adult, but work and money prohibit! There is always retirement! I do not have any children, but it is not due to the lack of desire or trying. We have settled on a white Chihuahua named, Toki. Yes, I am one of those annoying people who speaks to her dog like a baby. I do have 3 nieces, 3 nephews and many 'adopted' God children. They all keep me laughing and very broke!
I enjoy most music and have a varied collection of LP's, Cassettes and CD's. I mostly listen to the radio in the car and at work, but when it is time to clean the house I enjoy some background noise.
I am not a big reader. But, when I do read I enjoy the classics and some true crime.
I LOVE going to the movies. However I have to say I enjoy being at home with the remote and a soft blanket over sitting behind cell phone addicted cinema patrons and oblivious chit chatters. My movie choices depend on who I am with. I really enjoy most movies. When I am with my sister we enjoy serious drama. My Mom tends to lean towards movies about actual events and biography style plots. When it is a girls night with the friends we always go for goofy romantic comedy and with my other half it is science fiction, action and comic book adaptations. When I am all alone I love a good horror flick. Honestly, I am up for anything!
The love of my life is obsessed with TV. The DVR has put a damper on the night life for me. Since he is an IT guy who loves to manipulate data and build files, he actually records every episode of every show he likes. Of course, we buy seasons of shows on DVD every year as well. I don't understand or even try to understand why this makes him happy, but he doesn't get my crafting. So, we let each other do our thing. I love reality crime shows like First 24 Hours and Cops. Will watch hour upon hour of Rehab Addict and other DIY shows. Of course, The Walking Dead and The Haunting are at the top of the list. Probably my favorite shows are Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
I love crafting. I learned to knit when I was four years old. Embroidery and cross stitch soon after. I didn't learn to crochet until my early 20's. I still do all four! I also enjoy glass painting, card making, scrapbooking, sewing and quilting. I have to say I enjoy hand embroidery the most right now. It goes in stages. I will try anything and love to find new ways to craft. Because I am a lifelong crafter I love handmade things and appreciate the time and effort put into such gifts. I love to see other people's creations and learn from them. I really enjoy showing new crafters how to start their own craft obsession. There is nothing better than getting a compliment on a handmade gift and then showing someone how fun and generally easy it is to do. I hate it when people say,"I'm not talented or artistic enough to do that." I am a firm believer that if you don't like to craft - don't! But if you have the desire go for it! Art is just passion and patience. It will be beautiful to someone :)
