I've always loved to read. I like the escapism I get when venturing into someone else's imiganation. So I don't read to many non-fiction books. However, with that said, I'm a huge DIY'er and will read anything that teaches me something new. For pleasure reading I like the paranormal romances and the action/adventure. Gotta love those men that only exsist on paper! I've been known to read a few contemporary romances, mystery, horror, and sci-fiction.
I will listen to everything and anything depending on what kind of mood I'm in. I have eclectic tastes. I listen to everything from classical to metal, country to hip hop. I'll even listen to some opera if I have to. Some of my favorite artists are: Korn, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Chopin, and Cross Canadian Ragweed.
I'm a Gemini thru and thru. I'm adaptable and versatile. I can be contradictory, elusive and complex. I'm a single mom of a teenage son. I'm an animal lover, but not a cat person. (there's that conflicting side of me showing!) I try to be a good person and lead by example--we'll see how that goes. My son learns new things he shouldn't all the time.
Where to start! I love dramas, action/adventure. My son and I watch comedies and then quote each other lines all day long. Our favorites are from Super Troopers, Vampires Suck, and The Hangover. But my favorite movies would have to be the thrillers. I don't mean the gory crap that tries to pass itself as quality. Too many bodies being hacked to death with blood and guts everywhere, that's just nasty. (Think the Saw franchise) I like the really scary movies that make you think, make you question the characters and their motives. The ones that make you second guess your neighbors! Don't get me wrong, I like a good zombie / creature movie or a killer plague movie like everyone else. But it's really hard to scare me. Sometimes it's too much and I feel like I should take a shower to remove the body fluids because it's just gross not scary.
I don't spend too much time watching t.v. There are a few shows I manage to either watch or DVR. I'm just as eclectic with my t.v. as I am with everything else. I'm a huge fan of HBO and most of their shows. I like Boardwalk Empire, and their newest series Game of Thrones. I love True Blood like all the other millions of fans out there and enjoy the books just as much as the show. I like Burn Notice and Haven. Dancing with the Stars is the only reality show I can tolerate. I have enough drama and problems in my own life without watching someone elses.
I don't think I could list my favorite crafts because I enjoy them all. I don't necessarily have the talent to make them beautiful, but I enjoy them all the same. I've been making jewelry since I was a teen. I enjoy flower aranging (fresh and silk), who doesn't love flowers! I've done some scrap booking. I envy those people with the patience to do needlework or are able to sew. My sewing talents are limited to squares. I can sew a pillow like no body's business, but anything more complicated than that and I'm useless. I have discovered ATC's since joining this swap and have become addicted. They are the greatest outlet I have found for creativity.
I have many things I like and very few things I dislike. I collect giraffe's for my home and dragonflies for body adornments. When the weather is permitting, I love doing yard work. I enjoy all forms of mythology, fairy tales/ folklore, and all things whimsical. I like bold rich colors instead of the brights or pastels. I absolutely love history and all things antique. I go to the antique store as often as I can to browse. I also love all things from foreign countries, since I never have the opportunity to go anywhere. Some of my -I call them useless- collections are postcards and old fashoined hat pins. I also love all forms and media of art. I love going to the museums and looking at all the masterpieces.
Now to the dislikes. I'm not sure how to say this without sounding sacrilegious. While I'm a Christian, I don't like getting anything too religious from other people. Angels are fine, but nothing with quotes or scriptures. I don't like rodents or reptiles and I don't like the taste of coffee.
