Description:

International / lightweight / one partner

This is an International type 3 swap. Don't worry, you don't have to break the bank to send it - it should just be something you take time on, not necessarily something heavy to send. And - you can start on it now!

Mean Girls, if you don't know, is a movie that came out in 2004, starring Lindsey Lohan and written for the screen by Tina Fey. (If you haven't heard of or watched the movie, click on the link.) This movie focuses on a group of popular girls in a high school, and one of their activities is to create a "Burn Book" where they write mean observations or gossip about their fellow classmates. When I think of this movie, I rarely think of the Burn Book, but for the 10th anniversary of the movie, I've seen a lot of merchandise for sale, including "Burn Book" journals.

I know this sounds mean. I don't intend for it to be mean - I intend for it to be fun. For this swap, we are going to create a Burn Book for 1-4 literary character of our choosing. Do you have a love/hate feeling toward a literary character? Or can you think of a character you just plain do not like, at all, ever? This is where you can share your feelings! This can be for ANY character, ANY genre. But it should be a CHARACTER, not the author.

For the swap: You will use just one sheet of computer paper (8.5x11 or A4). Fold the paper into quarters (or use a ruler to divide the sheet into 4 quarters) - this will be your 4 pages of your Burn Book. (You CAN use the back of the sheet if you wish, but it's not required.)

On each of the 4 sections, you will name the literary character and the book (title and author) of the book they are from. Then, list at least one detail that you don't like about them. Or some type of gossipy thought about them. If you have a LOT to Burn one character for and can fill up all 4 sections, go for it! :)

The characters can be all from the same book or different books. You can add illustrations of the character or illustrate related images of the character. But, the minimum is the character, book title and author, and 1 detail.

Really, really take your time on this and think about which characters you want to BURN, and what you'd like to say. This can be super creative and artistic, it can be created all digitally & printed off, you can collage - just as long as the art you add relates to the character you are burning. Does that make sense? :)

This is not partner specific, so you can start on it when you sign up or add to your watch list.

When it comes to mailing this, you can fold the sheet into the quarters and mail it. You don't have to mail it flat, etc - just one sheet of paper and the envelope should be able to send for a single stamp. I do urge you to take a photo or make a photocopy of your page before you send it out - if your swap doesn't arrive, then you can share the photo with your partner.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Please send me a PM! I won't see the message if it's left below.
