Description:

Check out this page to see the interesting days we can celebrate together in July.

This month we will try something new. There will be two separate Bizarre swaps... one for us Cheapskates, one for the more Generous souls. Feel free to join both if you like!! :) Hopefully this will help keep my marriage strong!! (Hubby is having postage blues)

Choose at least 2 of the unique holidays listed at the above site, and figure out something to send your partner to help celebrate those days. You may choose DAYS or your gift may represent the WEEK or MONTH holidays (you will understand when you see the site)

At least one of the items must be "literary" in nature... something related to books...book plates, a bookmark, envelopes made from dictionary pages, a mini journal, even a long chatty letter...etc Items should be small and lightweight. Don't send two of the same item... (for example, two different themed strips of stickers) unless you KNOW your partner LOVES that item and will be thrilled to receive two of that item.

This package should cost very little, and keep shipping under $2 IF you can. (cost of shipping will not be factored into the rating!!) If you can fit your items inside a regular sized envelope, go for it! (You win the title Swap-Queen Cheapskate!) Because I think the opportunity exists to fit these items inside a fairly flat card, we will try leaving it international this month. I think we can get things mailed even internationally for under $2...anyway, we'll try!

Handmade items are perfectly acceptable, or regifts IF they are in very good condition. But do whatever you can to make it fun. Make the envelope "happy". The key is make it a package you would love to receive, something that will make your partner smile, even though it's tiny.

So... one partner, one package. For a five rating: at LEAST 2 items which represent two or more unique holidays. (one of those will be somehow book-related)... And don't forget to include a little note telling why you chose each item (what day they represent), the swap name, and your swap-bot ID. Got it?

The original idea for this swap was from @craftygirl who hosts something similar monthly in the open swap forum. She has kindly given us permission to use and alter it. :)

I'd like to see everyone try and represent the 2nd week of July: Nude Recreation Week! Teeheehee!

Oh.... hmmm... well I have a few ideas, but I think I might choose two OTHER holidays!! :) Also let me know if you'd like to see things changed in this swap... One dollar shipping? Three dollars shipping? One partner? Four holidays? I am open, just want to make sure it is cheap. :) Oh and homemade or store bought is fine for this one. You can of course send more, and spend more on postage, but are not required to.

Shipping is not an issue when it comes to cost, but I don't always fare well in swaps that have more than one partner. It seems to happen that I make something and give it my all and love it, but then I am feeling drained while I make the other one and it is never 'quite as nice'.

I am an idiot... I had the dates wrong!! :) We can switch it to one partner... I like one better, too... was just thinking people might feel like it's such a small swap, they'd want two packages. :) Check now, both are changed...

Ha ha... I get gracie again! You know, there is this other lady, @midnightshadow ... anytime I am in her swaps, I am the partner that sends to her (ANY time) ... what a strange glitch!

This is kind of funny. You seem to always get me. Hope you do not mind.

hollycm6 05/27/2010 #

Nope, you send fun packages!! :)

hollycm6 06/14/2010 #

Shoot. I sent the same sized package I always do.

This month was fun. It was very challenging too but yeah I think my package is about the same size. I came up with some fun things though that I am finishing up this weekend. You are in for some surprises Holly. : )

hollycm6 06/28/2010 #

I sure was. :)

Yup, we both failed the "cheapskates" aspect. (biut your package was so fun, I am glad you failed!) Ha ha!! If we do it again I am TOTALLY going to come up with an excellent package, that is cheap to send. Somehow.

Ha yeah i will try harder to think flat next time. Just too many ideas pop into my head and it is hard to restrict myself. : )
