Description:

Let's make a Kaleidocycle!

Entertaining, huh? Below is the link to the site that spells it all out for you.
Because we are all Geeks and love things mathematical and involved (ha ha!), here is your challenge:

YOU HAVE TO COLLAGE A KALEIDOCYCLE.

What does that even mean? It means, instead of taking the easy way out (read the tute) and uploading pics for the program to divide for you.....

You have to:

  1. Find 4 images from wherever - magazines, calendars, postcards, etc.
  2. Cut them into a perfect hexagon with a 4" diameter from corner to corner.
  3. Divide the hexagons into 3 equal parts, as per tutorial.
  4. Glue to cardstock, as per example in tutorial.
  5. Do not assemble.

In the interest of keeping postal costs down, do not assemble before shipping.
Mail flat in a 4x9 business size envie and let your partner assemble once they receive it.

This your chance to share what geekly images makes your heart beat a bit faster. Choose pics that you find interesting, amusing, puzzling, intriguing, and inspiring!

To grasp how to cut your hexagons, and then once received how to assemble your kaleidocycle, watch this: TUTORIAL.

Rules:
1. Be neat. Do your best. Make something you would want to receive.
2. Send on time.
3. Don't flake. Duh!
4. Rate your partner.

This is not profile based, but please try not to offend.

Thanks for playing!

I'm glad to see this swap posted, I loved the idea in the forum :)

LadyS I love the idea. Will definitely make one I just don't feel confident sending one out, and not sure I have the time. I'm watching. This swap is why I joined the geeks. I had to find out more!

I'm sure these little gems are a first for most of us. Just give it a go! We're all a little geeked up, so go for it.

What an interesting little thingy! :)

i've been trying to work on mine and it looks like the images need to be stretched a certain way... am i imagining that?

LadyStephanie 10/16/2010 #

grrrrr! I tried it too and couldn't get it to work. Tried the print out from the tutorial, AND collaged one and couldn't get it to work.

All right. Can't cancel the swap. BUT have a new tutorial to use. HERE IS THE LINK and @wunderland tried it and said she got it to work. I extended the due date by two weeks. Best of luck to you all!!!!

Hee hee, maybe I'm not a geek after all. Foiled by a stupid paper folding puzzle! Deep Breath Good luck, Brave Swappers!

LadyStephanie 10/23/2010 #

I did it! I did it! And it really works. The link @wunderland gave us is excellent...flipped like it's supposed to and everything!

LadyStephanie 10/30/2010 #

All right, this is crazy! I'm sending everyone a template that is cut, scored and pre-folded as per the second tutorial. As for the images, just do the best you can. I can't do all the work for you!

By the way, these will fit into a regular business size envie, so I'm fixing the swap description right now. :o)

LadyStephanie 11/ 5/2010 #

You're welcome! Have fun!!!

I keep extending the due date because I KNOW this was a tough one. But let's try to finish up and "chalk one up to experience."

Thanks everyone for trying this silly little thing!!!
