Welcome to my profile, if you´re my partner and want your swap to be a surprise - don´t look at my photos!
Hopefully 2012 will be a somewhat slower year than 2011 though not everything has been all that hysterical :). We moved to a new town, my son started school and I had an unfortunate relapse in my illness. Anyhow, as long as it isn't nasty tumours everything is ok. Looking forward to some heavy swapping again!
In no special order: Sheltering sky, Good Bye Lenin, Cry Freedom, Fanny & Alexander, Billy Elliot, Hotel Rwanda, Bowling for Columbine, Japanese Story, Like water for chocolate, Wasabi, Forrest Gump, Leon, Sex lies and videotape, The Crying game, Dead Man Walking, The tenth man, Brokeback Mountain, What´s eating Gilbert Grape, Sicko, Thelma & Louise, If these walls could talk 2, Wal-Mart:The high cost of low price, The birds, Waking the dead, Schindler´s list, Oscar & Lucinda, Girl Interrupted, Calender Girls, Fried Green Tomatoes and many, many more.
Although...a good story is almost always better in a book than on the screen I think. Fannie Flagg and Sarah Waters are excellent story-tellers.
Twin Peaks, QI, Prime Suspect, Trial & Retribution, Morse, Wallander, Law & Order if Jeff Goldblum is in it.
I like special voices - Annie Lennox, Bono (U2), Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Axl Rose,Yusuf Islam, Kate Bush, Melissa Etheridge, Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Amy Winehouse and the gorgeous Freddie Mercury (Queen). For some peculiar reason I also fancy John Denver, probably because my Mom listen to him when we grew up. Could do without those lyrics though :).
I sew just about everything from my son´s clothes to quilts. When it comes to less common projects maybe lamps made of old tins and forks are amongst those more memorable...I also collect fabrics from the 50s - 70s and make new things out of them. If you have a small piece from a curtain, bedset or any other kind I´d be most happy to receive it. Small pieces like 15 x 30 cm becomes pouches :).
Born and raised in an inventive environment with a Mom who still creates new projects every year and her sister who knitted sweaters from dogs hair...I´m a lucky girl and try to inspire my child to be creative too. He makes candles (or the truth is he makes a bit and Mum the most..) and prints on everything. For his 5th birthday I got a huuuuge album so we´re going to make a photoalbum together from his first five years. Now he´s 6 and in our speed, we´ll have an album finished when he moves out!
When it comes to fabrics and crafts I like just about every colour if they match but... no pink. I´m a catperson and loooooove fabrics and other stuff with cats on! Most things in our home looks like homespun stuff in earthtones (or 70s things) but my child likes clear, hot and bright colours so everything is welcome and...it doesn´t hurt if they match. I´m very fond of things sewn from old fabrics.
Fabrics I like: 50s - 70s, homespun, old farmhouse, cats, batiks, blue in all shades. For the charms I´d be thrilled for turqoise and watercolour!
Not so fond of: * too cute things * things with labels (like fabric with commercials)* pink * silver, gold and glitter on both fabric and paper * fabrics with lots of white in them (white prints on black for example) * things related to Disney or any cartoon really BUT my boy´s cousin Julia (4 yrs) adores Hello Kitty so I collect things for her * religious stuff * coffeesamples * ATC´s, look nice but I have no use of them. Tried it, didn´t fancy it. * makeup or lipbalm are things I rather buy myself. * non-natural yarns (eg. acrylics, fluffy yarn, eyelash and so on)
Things I like: homemade things, household things and stuff that are useful in some way or the other. I´m very fond of recycled things and altered stuff. We recycle the most impossible things here so...feel free to do the same!
Wishlist: * woolyarn, preferrably superwash, any lenght and size will be much appreciated (I knit a lot of socks and mittens to my son´s preschoolfriends and have recently made a promise to knit to out local shelter for homeless people too) * large sewing needles * thin and long pin needles * double pointed knitting neeldes in fun colours, any size, new or used * plastic crochet hook, any size, new or used * fabricscraps * funny buttons * wooden buttons * nice beads, not plastic please * small embroidery patterns * sewing patches, especially for kids * tassels - any colour, store bought or homemade * bag/purse patterns * old sewing patterns for household things * magnetic snaps - new or reused (they are very hard to find here!) * small magnets or a piece of thin magnet to cut smaller pieces from * scraps of fabrics and wallpaper from the 50s & 60s * colourful ribbons * knitted dishcloths * and all kind of homemade things!
My son´s wishlist: * small cars * anything remotely related to Shaun the Sheep * road signs and things related to cars * small letters and numbers, he has started to write so everything with the alphabet is very fascinating right now * magnets for the refrigerator (yes, cars again...and Shaun LOL) * fun socks in happy colours, he has size 33 in shoes which would equal to 1 in the US and 13.5 in the UK if I understand the charts right.
I´m easy to please when it comes to swaps I think, a wishlist is just full of wishes - I´d be happy for anything you put a thought into!
Swapping should be fun, not stressful :).
40, comes with a 6-year-old who owns my heart completely and a 45-year-old who takes a big place there too. Likes politics, smart people, long discussions and does more than hope for a better world for my son. Survived a very abusive relationship and teach feminist self-defence when asked. Definitely left-wing, though I come from a family with a diversity of political opinions from very conservative to those who thought Olof Palme was greater than Jesus... I believe in sharing and showing solidarity and think that racism is an ugly disease ment to be cured. Have written letters for Amnesty International for 25+ years and strongly oppose the death penalty. Through my job we support education for girls in areas with high risks of child prostitution. On my freetime I support any project that will learn people to read and write. I think if everyone made a little effort in an area he/she thinks could get better, things would dramatically change. Clean water, midwives, education, birthcontrol and equal rights are my top 5 for a better world. What´s yours? You just have to decide to do something.
Comes from a long line of stubborn women...and likewise stubborn men. I changed carrier from law to the best job there is, working with hiv/STI-prevention for young people. I fancy communication rather than lecturing kids, both my own and the ones in my groups.
Overall, I´m a happy person and I have a lot to be thankful for.
If you for some reason have not received your swap you can always count on me resending it. It´s better to be fooled and nice than suspicious I think :). I think a letter from Sweden to USA takes about a week to ten days to arrive, if you don´t get it please pm me, I keep a book on what I´ve sent out and when. Being a rather generous person I only send things that I would be truly happy to receive and I sincerely hope you do the same.
I´ll also be happy to help out and angel swaps related to sewing and paperitems.
All my best to you!
