I'm a 40-something marketing professional with a teen-age daughter, 4 dogs, 2 cats and a list of things I'd like to do, see and attempt long enough to last me into my 100s!! I am a temporary (12 years now) Texas resident - have lived in ND, AZ, WA, OR and TX and imagine I'll head back west when I'm able to move just for me, not the job - or back north by family, if global warming removes snow from the landscape. I dream of seeing water from my windows...
QUILTS My primary creative outlet - besides managing ad campaigns at work - is quilting. I learned to sew clothing as a young girl (hate it) but took a quilting class on a whim and found a new passion.
I mix it up between traditional patchwork, applique (needle-turn, mostly) and am venturing into the world of art quilts a little at a time with miniatures and inchies.
Quilting loves: *Saturated colors
*Contemporary fabric designs
*Asian fabrics (but not the anime-like stuff)
*30's fabric in small to medium doses
*Mark Lipinski
*Vintage - think Fig Tree in repro world, 30s - 50s in era
but I really loathe:
*Civil War repros
*Primitive / Country styles
I enjoy dabbling a lot - woodwork, paints, paper craft. I'm fascinated by art journals and toy with the idea of blogging. For now, I pick up new or different crafts that sound appealing in short bites to try and see if they stick ... one reason why I'm drawn to some swaps!
Between work, being a single parent and day to day life, I feel like my circle has shrunk. I like the idea of doing different things that intersect with people all over the world -- I believe that serendipity is a major force for good and think this site channels it like few things I've seen!
Lists are only the tip of the iceberg - I am sure there are thousands of things I really really like but just don't know about yet! If you're sending something, it's most important that you think it's a cool thing to send and it's not one of the few dislikes rather than hunting for "what I like" ... intention counts the most!
Likes:
Cats

Books - mostly light supernatural, mystery and some chick lit - plus I listen to books during my very long commute each day

Dislikes:
Anything 100% pastel

I'm sorry to have to remove you from the QnT group due to low ratings and absence from swap-bot for so long.
Thanks for letting me know it arrived :)
hugs, Amanda
My last PM to you about the Crazy Quilt Pillow Swap (mailing date Nov 9,09) was on Dec 5, and is unread, and nothing has come in the mail yet. I worked very hard on my sent-out pillow, and was eager to get something in return. You've got such good ratings, I hate to rate a 1 to mess things up for you.
Please write me about this, let me know what's going on.
