(I feel like it's been awhile since we were swap partners -- I missed you :) I don't think it's random at all -- I love maps, and I also LOVED playing Oregon Trail on my school's ancient Macintoshes. From some of my friends I learned the technique to expedite the process by alternating traveling at a grueling pace for a few days and then slowing down to rest. It is still mind-blowing that so many families ventured this path to start new lives. I remember one of my favorite books in middle school was Marissa Moss's (the author/illustrator of the Amelia's Notebook series) Rachel's Journal: The Story of a Pioneer Girl with faux-scrapbook details and doodles not unlike Amelia's books. Thank you for brightening my week!
Response: Hello! We just moved on Tuesday, so I have been out of the loop with my post carding... I hope to get my postcards unpacked, this weekend! I think I am taking the Oregon Trail approach- a few days of hard core work, then I need a day or two to relax!

As a kid, I collected Betty & Veronica Digests -- I remember in fourth grade comic books of all kinds being banned from the classroom (?), although I was good about not reading them during lessons, haha. Happy Monday!
Response: Funny how times have changed! When I taught, I encouraged my kids to read ANYTHING, including comic books. My 6 year read so many that he is in Kindergarten and reads on a 2nd grade reading level!

Response: I love moss. A bunch of my cousins settled down and got married really young. I took the scenic route. My grandmother told me that moss doesn't grow on a rolling stone and that she was not worried about me. Before she died, she also told me that I was her favorite!! :)

Comment: Caves are awesome, always a constant temp. We have several in Texas and I've been to a few. You look in awe and ask "Where does the water come from and where does it go?".
Response: They don't even know where the water comes from at Ruby Falls! A 145ft waterfall and they can't find the source?! Nature is nothing short of amazing!

If you haven't heard of "Atlas Obscura" look it up, it helps you find the most bizarre places. I used it in Oregon and found a lighthouse with corpses that is abandoned off the shore and then went on to Sasquatch country in Washington. It's the bomb!

I love my plants more and more each year. And I swear some of them. Are even growing on sunny warmish days despite the cold. I noticed today when I was playing with the dogs one of the tiny ground cover ones has grown about 2 inches over a stepping stone and I know it wasn't like that this fall or I would have cut it back and replanted.
