Comment: Thanks for the newsy letter - yes, we do have a lot in common! We watched the game until a lady came for her drum lesson in the last quarter. We left it on and turned the sound down as she is not a football fan and wants to talk a bit before her lesson. That way we could keep an eye on the score, but we missed the winning kick! We have no way to record now as we got got rid of our VHS and we get our TV via antennae. I love the pic of your mushroom! We usually only get the big white ones. I like the red mushroom on your envelope. We saw one like that in the wild in NZ. I may have to just write you a letter...

Comment: I am rating a 3 because I did not receive mail art. I did receive an envelope with goodies inside with one scribble drawing on the outside, but as I made very clear in the swap description the mail art for this swap needed to have effort put into it and cover the envelope. What I got did not meet the swap requirements. I contacted Deb to let her know that I would be rating down because of this reason, so that if she had a reason or wanted to try again to raise the rating that could be done. Instead of suggesting any of this, she said that I was attacking her art and that having to choose a sliver sharpie to draw on a blue envelope was a lot of effort. She continued to say how insulted and disgusted she was with me instead of at all acknowledging what I had told her. Instead she focused on constantly calling me judgmental, a poor hostess, and that I should be shameful. I was honestly shocked by her very immature responses and fully regret allowing her to be part of my swap because of the way she acted. While she tried hard to make me feel guilty for contacting her about this swap, I do not. Because she did not meet the requirements and then verbally attacked me and pushed all blame on me. Acting as she did is very inappropriate and I could suggest to anyone hosting a swap similar to this one, if she attempts to join in think twice about allowing it. I sincerely hope you have an attitude change and can enjoy swaps once more without having to tear down others if you mess up.
UPDATE:
The snowman was NOT colored in. The majority of the envelope was NOT decorated. I do not care if you chose to draw instead of anything else, I care about how it was executed. Your envelope did not meet the requirements. I have given out two 3 ratings since 2011 and this is one of them. I do not believe that you need to be an artist to do mailart but you do need time and effort. I am sorry that you are so angry, but I am not going to rate you higher just because you lash out at me. I do agree that swapping should be fun not mean. It is not fun to receive a swap that does not meet requirements and it is mean the way that you spoke to me in the messages. So please look in the mirror instead of this constant pointing fingers at everything else.
IF ANY MAILART HOSTS FEEL UNEASY: feel free to message me and request pictures of the envelope. I will be more than happy to let you decide for yourself.
Response: I stand by my comment of a judgemental hostess. Because my mail art was drawing rather than gluing and stamping, this is the reason she feels it was not art. I chose a snowflake font for the address, printed it with a blue pattern on white paper, cut out the the snowball label, Chose a deep blue paper and drew a snowman (we had been besieged with snow) Filled the snowman with repetitve patterns of blue, black and silver and then covered the envelope with doodled snowflakes that she calls scribbles, or maybe she calls it all scribbles. Yes, I lashed out, but how should one feel when they excitedly share with someone and are insulted. I've decided to give up swapping after 3 years. I had thought that I would not rate her as hostess, fearing it would be vindictive, but I've decided I would not want anyone else to feel as sad as I have because of this. Swapping is to be fun, not mean. DO NOTICE, THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE FIRST SWAP SHE HOSTED!

Comment: it says in the swap requirements that it has to be more than 3 pages there is only 2 =[. you only wrote a sentence for each prompt :( you didn't write much at all. i'm sad because i was looking forward to hearing from you. =[ please if you join this swap again can you make sure you are writing long letters? the prompts are there to get you talking, not just to answer in 1 or 2 sentences.
Response: Sorry you were disappointed. I did not realize that I had been brief. My only defense is that I was very sick the last month (flus, viruses, and Strep throat) so I did have difficulty getting my letters out on time.

I love your tips and ideas. I also purchased a beautiful leather cover for mine. It was pricey on Amazon but I figured the kindle was free so splurge on a nice cover. I had Amazon Prime for the first 3 months (gift with purchase of Kindle) and my husband said for my birthday he'd get it for me again. I'm really looking forward to 11/5 LOL
