Comment: I just got this and I love how you taped the PC's together to create a better writing surface...I'm stealing your technique lol. Also I LOVE Picasso...cubism and modern art are really cool. Whenever I travel I try to find the modern art museums because some of that stuff is so bizarre and creative. The rude PC is totally cool too...I'm a nurse so"chill the fuck out" and "calm the fuck down" are definitely in my vocabulary (not in front of the patients of course). What a great idea to send yourself PC's when you travel....I might try to do that on my upcoming pilgrimage in May. Thank you for everything...great swap!!

Response: in the center of the country like Mexico city, Queretaro, Puebla it is very easy. Also at all beaches, like Cancun, Tulum, Playa Mujeres, Cabo san Lucas, San Jose Cabo, etc. It is probably difficult down south but there is a lot of tourism nowadays and that makes things easier :)

I have family that is from a small town where the Basilica de Guadalupe is at, above D.F. of course. The food from Mexico is the best in the world.

I'm sure I'll be grossed and creeped out I just looked it up. It is definitely weird. But I feel so bad for the mice :-( It said one group in Estonia was euthanized because they couldn't untangle them. So sad.

Comment: The ofrenda contest sounds interesting... sort of. I think it's because in some spaces, ancestral altars like this are public or semi-public, whereas in some it's very closed. So how do you balance what an ancestor might like with 'public' tradition?
Response: Ofrendas should always be dedicated to someone, so whenever people create one for the public (like the ones at school), they dedicate to someone famous, like maybe a movie star. Mine at home for example, is for my mom, grandparents, aunts and uncles, so I place things they liked. The contests at school are done so that kids learn about the tradition but ofrendas are usually an "at home activity" IDK if that makes sense

One day she was talking to my mom and I said to her "I have a question. Are you pregnant?" My mom basically told me to leave them to talk. I was unaware at the time that a woman can have a bit of a belly and not be pregnant. Looking back, I probably insulted that poor woman and embarrassed my mom! Whoops!

Comment: The first one arrived! Holy cats Batman! For anyone reading this, the letter was posted on 22 April, the cancel date is 11 May and it was received on 1 August! The postal service really took the term “snail mail” to heart. How? I mean our countries are literally touching! I found this ABCs of dislikes a lot harder than I thought it would be too! The weirdest one was platform flip flops. Don’t get me wrong flip flops are an abomination. I plan to google them because I was unaware of them previously and want to see if they are the nightmare fuel I’m imagining! 🤣

Comment: Thanks for sharing! Somewhat related: My son and I had a tarantula once that we'd rescued from danger. A few days later, he wasn't in his terrarium thing. We never found him in the house. I hope he escaped and lived a long happy life.

Comment: Hello Elena, thank you so much for your swap. It was interesting to read. I have been to some of the places you have mentioned. I also find it interesting to visit McDonalds in different countries and see what they have on the menu. XXXLutz is a shop for furniture, not sure if they have any snacks there but you find a Kaufland store nearby where you can plenty of yummy snacks. Café del Sol is a beautiful place. They have good drinks and cocktails there. And a yummy brunch on the weekends. The food is so and so. They have burgers and Schnitzel and some other things which have a Spanish name but not really Spanish at all. If you want to get some Spanish or Mexican (maybe better say TexMex food) try La Siesta, El Ambiente or Casa Grande. The cake at Spetsmann is really great. A bit expensive but worth the money. I have been to Cologne a few times but prefer Dusseldorf, which is only a few minutes away from Cologen. If you come to Germany again you should go there.

Response: It is in fact called Loteria, but it is exactly the same as bingo, everyone has one card and there is one person naming picture by picture randomly selected. When you complete your card you say LOTERIA! instead of BINGO! LOL

Comment: This is awesome! Though I live WAY up in Minnesota, near Canada, I, too, have discovered that putting any food in tortillas makes it better to eat. Well, not pizza. But most other stuff. And my throat is now PARCHED for some orange juice! I also work at home, so I totally know what you mean. Your post office is so pretty with the green and pink! US is always blue, blue, blue. Not even pretty blue. Your fiance sounds very thoughtful! If I ever cooked anything, I'd send you a nice recipe, but I just don't. I love that you collect elephants. I collect peacocks. I don't watch TV at bedtime, but I set a timer to play an audiobook long enough for me to get to sleep. Sounds like we have a lot in common!

Comment: Thank you for sharing. I’d love to visit more of Mexico someday. I lived in Texas for a few years so crossed the border into Jauarez a couple of times but that’s it.
Response: oh its a shame, Juarez is not as touristy :( but there are beautiful things to see in Mexico, we are still a very green country so there are a lot of nature sites to visit

There was chocolate or some sort of sauce that was on many items in the box, the marzipan opened up and the pieces were everywhere. Even your note and postcard got dirty from the items that opened. :( It maybe a good idea to wrap each item for future swaps. I look forward to trying the items that are remaining. Thanks for your effort with this swap.

Yippie! :D My jaw simply drop when I got such a big package coming from Mexico (O.O) Seriously, I think it is the biggest package that I have ever receive in my entire swapping history! I am also very pleasantly surprise that you use stamps to mail the package. Again, you break the record of putting the highest amount and the most variety stamps ever! Then, there are so many candies and chocolates that I basically don't know which one to try first :P The ceramic magnet is a bit broken but I think I can fix it using glue or something. The 2 keychains are superb, I can't find the coffee sachet though, the postcards are wonderful, the shotglasses are beautiful- first time I receive it, I use to ask myself what is it when I saw any swap or people's wishlist that include shotglasses, now finally I know how it looks like ;D The coins are interesting and the letter explaining all the contents are very much appreciated. You really exceed my expectation and for that, I wish I could give you thousand hearts! ♡♥💛💕💗💖💓💝
