I am also a night owl, who can be an early bird if needed, but I don't normally feel that way! LOL! Especially with being retired, unless I have someplace I have to be, I go to bed whenever I want and get up the safe way! I am not a fan of setting the alarm clock but sometimes you have to, so... It is wonderful you can get so much done in the evening, I might be a night owl but it is usually because I am reading or playing on my phone, not doing anything constructive! LOL! Comment: August is Corn Season here. My favorite is too put up Silver Queen Corn. I usually buy 5/6 dozen and take the corn and milk off the cob and freeze it. Perfect. Happy to see other people still do it too. I use yellow corn (with out the milk from the cob) for soups etc. More common around here so less $$. I will pass along the traveler p/c's. Still have some bills f weeding to do but it’s manageable. Love your homemade envelope. And, yes,every once in a while someone prints my address with “plz note: no H…”. I always get a kick (& a shake of the head) out of it. Also, VA’s governor spells his name Glenn too. Thank you!

There have been several deer killed on the highway lately and one even ended up in the driveway. I wonder if any of them were the squash eater. I still feel bad for them, even if they do eat the squash.

Comment: Dear Carrie, thank you very much for your lovely letter! ^-^ I'm currently sitting on my balcony, surrounded by my herbs (like basil, thyme, lavender, rosemary) and thankfully I get lots of strawberries from my family, who have their own garden. Currently it's relatively hot here in Germany with 90 F and I would love to have AC, but that's not common and so I feel sometimes boiled alive in my office with it's huge windows... ^^° The Octoberfest is a regional thing: I guess around Munich you can't escape it, but here it's not the biggest deal. Comment: Hi Carrie! How are the beans doing since you had to replant? Our trip to Colorado Springs was wonderful and seeing the whole family together is always the best for me! Plus meeting the new Grandson was amazing! He has blue eyes like my youngest & me! My DIL has brown eyes and my oldest green, plus our Granddaughter has her Momma's brown eyes, so imagine our excitement about a blue eyed baby that looks like all the men on the Englert side! LOL! We had a wonderful time visiting and seeing different stuff in the area, plus we went to Cripple Creek to ride the narrow gauge train, and then to Victor to see Rita the Rock Planter - she is a troll and so awesome! We were so excited that our two year old Granddaughter knew us right away and was happy to give hugs & kisses! Yes, our Greta furbaby is a wonderful traveler - I feel thankful for that as previous fur babies hated the car! But we started her at a very early age, so I think that helped! Do you know where you will travel in the fall? Wayne is supposed to go back to work on July 17 - we will see how that works out! LOL! My hubby is our gardener but with his knee surgeries in Jan and April, we just have a small one this year. We just got back from vacation and the critters "found" the tomatoes while we were gone - sigh! Thankfully we have a fresh veggie place not too far from us and they still have some! Comment: Thank you for the letter and answers. I wish I could give away my half finished crafts, but no! I will finish them...some day. School ended the 31st here. I was kind of surprised because it always ended before Memorial Day when I was a child. I guess they got several days off in the winter because of school closures. We never got those. It was always, we don't care if you freeze your backside off. I remember wearing miniskirts in -14°F weather. I was numb. I felt nothing. I am also going down a rabbit hole if I don't shut up and rate some more swaps. I'm already several weeks behind. I will do it though!

Comment: Lovely letter. What is it though about things exploding? You talked of your pie. Well, we stopped for breakfast before our plane trip back to Pa from Texas, on April 1st. I ordered eggs benedict but with a hard poached egg, not soft poached. When I put the knife in to cut down, it exploded with a pop and egg and Hollandaise sauce went everywhere, including my hair, face, clothes, table, booth and floor. It shocked me and everyone around us. I do think Mother Nature has a sense of humor to play such a joke on me. At least our "exploding" trees, pies and eggs, make a great memory. Have a great day. I've tried to get my spouse to stop reading books that make him miserable, but he's very much of the idea that, once he starts it, he must finish it. So he continues to read it and just complains at me the whole time. XD I'm much better at dropping books than he is. Thank you for joining my swap, and have an awesome day!
Response: There are too many good books waiting to suffer through a bad [to me] one. Usually I will read the last few pages of any fiction before discarding just to determine if I should in fact find out how the end became the end. If I can satisfactorily fill in the blank with yadayadayada, I'm done.

Comment: Thank you for the great PC! I love how you incorportated the eclipse into it. And I love the eclipse stamp, they are by far my favorite stamp ever. The next eclipse will be centered 25 minutes from my house. Actually where I work in Ennis, TX. To tell you the truth I did not even get tot see the eclipse, I had to be at work, so I was driving. It did get a little darker and cooler. lol Maybe in 2024 I will get to see it.

Comment: ah, line drying. My folks hang wooden bars (one inside for after ironing and one outside to dry) to hang their clothes on. Went to visit them a few weeks ago and didn't even think about the bar being up when I was walking downstairs until my husband nearly garroted himself on it. Apparently marrying into a short family is a dangerous move. (on the flip side, when we visit his family heaven forbid I want a coffee mug...)

Several years ago, a couple of expat friends & I were invited to talk to the Kuna schoolchildren on a remote island in the San Blas Islands. We organized them into 3 groups & taught them to sing row-row-row-your-boat in rounds. They didn't understand the words, but loved it nevertheless & wanted to do it over & over. It's one of my fondest memories.

I didn't have a trapper keeper either, I'm sure for $ reasons, for my 30th bday a friend got me a pencil case from 1993 with all the little buttons that make a pencil sharpener etc. pop out. I was way too thrilled. That being said I would not have given the duct tape binder back lol. Also, enjoyed the letter from a fellow rambler. 😄

Like you, I have a soft spot for the curious, and as a result my garden tends to represent this through its variety. I especially adore flowers which come in unusual colours, so I can't wait for the limon's to show themselves! Another good theme to play with is "embarress your mother". My hubby is filled with all kinds of allergies / ailments / asthma, so our dream is to move to a 'clear skies' city and even get our green thumbs out. So we know who to call :) There is nothing quite like fresh produce and farmers markets here are a real treat. Food from the garden must be eaten by hand and in good company :)
