Response: Thanks and take care!
Response: Thanks--so glad it finally arrived!
Response: Thanks much - I was laid off Monday so will be home now other than to walk the dog and once a week to the grocery store. Be well/stay well yourself too!
Response: You bet. I didn't go to the first home game, but I went to the 2nd one and it was so loud my two boys covered their ears almost the entire time--and we were up in next to top row! They are 31 and 33 now, but they were really young then. Have a great week!
Response: I had to laugh at what advice my partner (who is in NC) gave--she said MOVE!
Response: I'll always remember my trip to FDR's home because it was the 1st time in my life that I got stung by a bee. It started swelling up and the ranger guy wanted to call 911 since I'd never been stung before. But I talked him out of that and it was all fine. Really neat house overlooking the Hudson River-I liked the tour quite a bit. Thanks for the rating and the heart, my friend!
Response: Glad you liked the card! My Dad's family were some of the very earliest settlers in Manitou Springs (1872, four years before CO statehood. Did you live there, or Green Mtn. Falls, or somewhere else? IM me-would love to hear about it!
Response: Yes, I could stay busy in Philly for a week I'll bet -- the Betsy Ross house is on the list too! Thanks for the rating and heart!
Response: Our Hawaii trips were strictly vacation, thankfully! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: I have such a hard time coming up with non touristy cards, but I'm glad at least you enjoyed them in one way or another! Split pea soup was invented in Solvang's very close neighbor Buellton--I saw the sign about that--it's their 'claim to fame'! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks much for the rating and heart!

Response: So glad you liked them! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Super glad you like them! Thanks for the heart.
Response: Thank you -- it was very difficult loosing my brother the way it happened, but he was a good person and I loved him and looked up to him a lot. Thanks for the rating, and especially for the heart.
Response: I have about everyone of the House Mouse collection and love them all. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: You're very welcome--I knew you'd like that one. I sure did too. People have really discovered the RMA and even though it's closer to us than the Denver Airport there is a LOT of wildlife out there.
Response: Too funny - thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: You're very welcome! Always good to see you at Denver Postcard Club meetings. Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Glad you like it! At the last show I went to the people sitting next to us had flown in from Oslo, Norway. It's become so well known that we locals have a hard time getting seats at shows there!
Response: So many people fly in from sea level one day and think they can go up to as high as 14,000 feet the very next day, and you just can't do that! Best to know your limitation and get acclimated slower. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thank you, Ari! I hope the new job is a good jumping off point into your professional career - it sounds like you'll be making a difference! Hope to see you in another swap sometime soon!
Response: Thanks for the ratings and hearts -- do make sure to let me know if they came with postage due!
Response: No problem-glad they arrived safely this time. Appreciate the rating and the heart - happy Christmas to you!
Response: Thanks for the rating/heart. I just cringe when I see rock stars in their 70s still having kids!
Response: No worries - I hope you have a nice weekend too! Thanks for the rating & heart.
Response: Boy, you were some of the luckiest ones then - that's awful that so many homes will never be lived in again. Makes me wonder how many will rebuild, and how many will leave the area forever.
Response: You're most welcome - thanks for the heart. There have been Space Cat PC swaps here on the bot--I had just stumbled upon it not all that long ago.
Response: Funny--that wasn't me that put the paperclip on it!
Response: Yes, just too many foot prints. A fashion magazine did a photo shoot with 2 models standing in the water and it really caused an uproar!
Response: I think the building still stands, but it's not a hotel any longer. It's in Carisbrook, Victoria. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: I think so! Thanks for the rating & the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating/heart. I was in Seattle last month, and they have a similar park along/under/over an interstate highway too. Kind of feel sorry for the trees, though - all that exhaust.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart -and your cute story! We have magpies too, and once our neighbor rescued one from a fallen nest and raised it. It got so it had no fear of humans and would try to land on my shoulder all the time which I did not like! I'd run from my car to my front door all the time till he finally took it to a bird rescue place!
Response: You're very welcome -- I had a lot of fun doing this swap. I don't have a cat or any pets right now, but really want another kitty.
Response: I sure wish I could see on a map the route we took that day -- I was beginning to think we were never going to find our way and back into NYC! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thanks! I just might take you up on that, though it wont' be right away like this weekend or anything. Thanks for the rating/heart and have a great weekend and 4th of July!
Response: Yes, poor poor Kenny - they killed Kenny! I saw The Book of Mormon Friday night which Stone/Parker from So. Park wrote and it was crazy funny albeit quite crude. I swear the voice of Jesus was the same as Cartman's!
Response: I will have to see if I can find those platypus note cards - if I can find them I will definitely send you one! Thanks for the heart!
Response: Due to a family illness issue I may not get to do much traveling this year :0( But I have been to all the places you list so I guess I should not complain. I did get to spend a week in Dubai last fall which was really interesting and fun. Thanks for the rating and heart!
Response: Thanks for the rating/heart, Mar!
Response: Actually those lumps are snow covered rocks in the river. They don't call 'em the Rocky Mountains for nothing! But I definitely agree with you that they look like giant marshmallows. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thanks for the rating/heart, Sandy. My BFF is moving to Florida in a month and I'm rather shocked/bummed about it. I had saved in Word my little PC stories and I'm so glad I did--I'll print copies for her and copy those cards too and give them to her. I rarely send out anything that I don't have another copy of. I guess while I'm at it I'll do the same for my sons! I enjoy writing-wish I could make a living do it!
Response: Thanks my dear--you have a great weekend too!
Response: You too, and thanks for the rating and the heart! Glad you liked the cards, etc.
Response: Glad you like them. Pika are so darned cute-we see them above timberline in Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park--they make this cute squeaky sound and aren't rodents-they are in the rabbit family. The road should be open by Memorial Day and I always look for them up there.
Response: Thanks very much, Shirley!
Response: Nice! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Oh, I'm so sorry--that's a bummer. I've always wanted to see a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. My aunt was a pretty famous singer in the 1930s and she sang there a few times with an orchestra. But the rock and roll is much more my style. TPATH was so good last May at Red Rocks! The guy sitting next to us flew in from Sweden to see that show and went both nights they performed there.
Response: Yep, I kind of feel I'm a Colorado Ambassador of sorts myself! And I'm also on Postcrossing!
Response: Glad you like them! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Super glad that my card went to someone who appreciates it! I'm going to IM you about a couple of my reading experiences--I think you'll get a kick out of them. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart! That is really funny that you had a Greek partner for this swap. I would have to get downtown to buy a Denver fridge magnet for you--snowing like crazy here this weekend, but I'll try to remember and IM you about a private swap within a month or so.
Response: Happy Groundhog's Day! Thanks for the rating and the heart.

Response: That's too funny - thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: I think you very well may be the one person in Canada with the most Colorado postcards! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Too funny-my husband and I were in Montrose over the summer. That's a western slope town that has really grown a lot!
Response: Glad you like the card! Probably not one a whole lot of people have. I think I got it at the top of Monarch Pass - there is a huge gift shop there at the ski area.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart -- got back Saturday night and it had been about 80 degrees that day. But yesterday we had our first measurable snow fall in Denver and it's COLD-especially after being in 99 or 100 degrees for a week with high humidity!
Response: Glad it arrived!
Response: Yes, and margarita's made from cactus juice are great as well! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: I was in PHX once when a storm like that came thru and I was scared about out of my shorts! They are really something else. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: You're very welcome, my friend! I thought you'd like the Smokey card a lot. I recently bought another Smokey card on eBay that's pretty old. I don't buy a lot of pc's on eBay, but that one I couldn't resist!
Response: Glad you like it - thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: You bet--thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Glad you like the cards. Funny about your only riding the ferry once and living on Staten Island. But you know, I've been to the Budweiser plant in St. Louis before, but in 57 years of living in Colorado I've NEVER been to the Coors plant in nearby Golden. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Same to you--happy 4th! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Very sweet of you to say that, Susan! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Really glad you like them! I have such a hard time outside the touristy cards. If you have suggestions of good places to get the type of cards you like I'd like to hear from you about it. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: So glad you like them! I have such a hard time with swappers that really aren't into the tourist cards. If you have any suggestions where to get good ones let me know. Local museums are good, but they're so pricey! Thanks for the rating--and the heart!
Response: Yea, I thought that was a great addition for this swap. Glad you like 'em all! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: I agree, hate is a very strong word. Arizona was great-we left in a snow storm and went to much warmer and nice weather.
Response: Wow, no wonder you're jealous of that. They were less in AZ that I've ever found them in Colorado even. Shopkeepers would comment on how many I was buying... and I just tell them that I have LOTS of friends to send cards to! Thanks for the rating and the heart, Maxine!
Response: I'm glad to hear it. Next swap I have coming to you soon will be Arizona cards. I probably bought 150 in 3 days there-they were quite inexpensive--like 6 for a dollar!
Response: So glad I made your day! My brother lives in Meredith, CO up by Reudi Reservoir. A friend of mine is the current editor of the Aspen Times newspaper too. We had several inches of snow last weekend, but in true CO fashion, it's all melted away now. Hope you get back to CO sooner rather than later--thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: LOL - people tell me I should have been a teacher, and I have a feeling it's true! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart! I read on FB today that T.P. tickets at Red Rocks where I'll see them next month are in the $400 a seat range--crazy! Those ticket brokers are thieves.
Response: Glad you like them! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: I do get up to your area, yes. Though the streets are confusing to me! Have a good week, Carol
Response: So glad you like what I sent! I've lived in Colorado all my life and never saw a Fisher, but I'm told they are real, just very shy. The Pika you will find if you look hard and get up above tree line (like 11,000 - 14,000 feet above sea level). People think they are rodents but they're not--they are a member of the rabbit family. I have wondered if the Pokemon character Pikachu was named after them--there are definite similarities! There has been a lot in the news here about the earthquake (and stranded people--and cows!), I hope you and yours are safe and sound. take care, Carol in Colorado
Response: Yes, M.V. is a very cool place--2nd ever UNESCO World Heritage site (only after the Galapagos Islands). Hopefully you got to go into the San Juan range of the Rocky Mountains too. Hubby and I do hope to get back to NY again. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Some people have a foot fetish, but not me--I'm just the opposite! Thanks for the rating and the heart. I'm mailing you some cards soon now too!
Response: Tim McGraw, right? I heard about it and was surprised it would be there as I'm sure that stadium hasn't been used for concerts before (the Air Force Academy football games and graduations are held there). Though it's a really neat setting and I think would be great for a concert!
Response: Super - glad you like them! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: I was in NYC and along the Hudson River Valley in NY Aug. 9-16 and it was so hot and humid I could not believe it! As high as 95 degrees and add 10-15 more on top of that with the heat index. Ugh!
Response: You might not believe this, but I get told all the time that I should have been a history teacher! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart -- maybe some day I'll make it to Clinton to see Hamilton College! While on our trip, I'm planning on having my hubby take photos of me at all the places we'll be seeing that have some attachment to him. One example is at the Schuyler Mansion in Albany, which is where Alex got married.
Response: You bet, Gloria! You should see Lowry now (I live about 1/2 way in between it and the old Stapleton Airport). It's mostly developed now, and pretty much the only things that tell you it was a military base is the Officers Quarters buildings which are town-homes now and the Wings Over the Rockies museum which has an old airplane out front of it.
Response: You're very welcome! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Good deal - hope you have a nice long weekend too!
Response: Oh, lucky you! Hubby and I are going to do a long weekend and go to Telluride next month. Lived in CO all my life and it's the last real bucket place I need to see here.
Response: So glad to hear that! Have a great weekend, Carol up I-25
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. You are very lucky to have won that trip! Egypt would be on my list too if I felt it was a more safe place to travel.
Response: Super - thanks for the rating and the heart!!

Response: So glad you like them -- thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thanks so much-for your kind words, the rating, and the heart!
Response: I've never run across anyone other than my mother-in-law who knew of this movie let alone knows about its filming. Very cool-thanks for the info! My Mom had a first edition signed copy of the book that I now have.
Response: Thanks for the rating/heart-glad you like the cards. Baby has arrived! 3 weeks early on 8/4 - Madalynn Marie at 5 lbs., 12 ozs. She's doing fine; now if we can just get her Daddy home from Cuba!
Response: So glad you liked them! Thanks much for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating, the heart, and as always, the kind words, Gloria!
Response: No worries--thanks for the heart!
Response: Glad you like it! If I were walking along and saw that I'd scream loud enough to echo across the canyons! And they're not THAT big, either!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart! I will take you up on a card from Vienna and I have sent you an IM. thanks again!!!
Response: Yes! We have over 200 members, but only about 30-40 that attend meetings regularly. The club buys collections of cards and you can buy them for 25 cents each at meetings. We share the building with the stamp collectors group.
Response: LOL -- I love it! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Yes, my favorite time of year too! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: My aunt sang at Red Rocks in the late 1940's-she was a pretty famous opera singer in her day. In the performers Hall of Fame type thing there her name appears in the row next to the Beatles! Thanks for the rating and the heart, my friend!
Response: You're the best! Thanks very much -- Carol in Denver
Response: I adore Bath, but our dear Jane did not -- she is known to have referred to 'the white glare of Bath'. Hope you have a fabulous trip!
Response: Glad you liked the swap, Sue. I just tend to get pennies at touristy places we visit; I probably have around 100 of them is all. Surprise me! But don't make it a special mailing-we'll be paired soon again soon enougn I'm sure. Thanks for all you do here to keep us all swapping pc's!
Response: Super glad you like it! I still like and will watch that movie--a very early but stellar Spielberg flick! Thanks for the rating and the heart-happy holidays to you!
Response: That sounds like great fun! Thanks for the rating and the heart, and happy holidays!
Response: But actually the train goes 1,000 feet UNDER the bridge! at the bottom of the canyon along side the Arkansas River. But you can do the bridge in the same day-drive or walk across it. But it can be scary-I ended up with vertigo after walking across it and won't do it again! Thanks for the rating and the heart--Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart -- wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season too!
Response: Thanks so much, Gloria! One thing in the Black Hills that I saw for the first time and loved was Sylvan Lake (of Natl. Treasure II fame)! Alas, we did not locate 'the City of Gold"....

Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart! I will IM you my address-thanks very much!
Carol in Denver
Response: Yes, our sun is a wonderful thing, isn't it? My husband and I were in L.A. last weekend and it was 80 degrees when we had left snow so that was great. My Aussie cousins have helped me much with my ancestry there, but if anything comes up that I'd like looked into, I'll let you know! Thanks for the rating and the heart--I'm so glad you're getting much better!
Response: It was very short, but yes we had a great time and I love Maryland.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart -- know that the world is wishing great things for Ukraine. I hope the troubles there are sorted out soon.
Response: Glad it arrived! Thanks for the rating and the heart. Have a swell weekend!
Response: So glad it arrived.... and so glad you like it! Thx for the rating and the heart.
Response: The way the moss hangs from the trees there at Bonaventure makes it a very romantic setting--certainly different in a cemetery! A good size river runs along the back side of it and there are some pretty well known people buried there and lots of great statuary too. Glad you like the card--I'd been saving that one for a long time to make sure someone got it that really could appreciae it. Hope you are feeling better now! I had seen that you had not rated and I was really worried the card may have gotten lost in the mail because you hadn't rated. I was worried that I didn't have another one from a cemetery to send you if I had to do a resend for the swap! Thanks for the rating and the heart, Carol
Response: So glad you like them -- thx for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thanks, Anita -- you have a good night too! I'm afraid we still have more cold weather to come--try to stay warm!
Response: You should! There is so much to see and do down in the Springs. We love N. Cheyenne Canyon and the Gold Camp Road but they are closed right now due to Sept. flooding. But just last week we went to the Carriage Museum at the Broadmore Hotel and it was really nifty (and free!). Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Glad it arrived this time! Thx for the rating and the heart.
Response: Glad you like them, Dave! Thanks for the rating and the heart.

Response: Yeah, I thought you'd like that one! Thanks for the rating and the heart.

Response: So glad you liked them! Thx for the rating and the heart.
Response: You're very welcome! I think most of the soldiers stationed at Fort Carson really like the Colorado Springs area. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: The AFA Chapel is set back quite a ways, but yes, you can see it from I-25! Always a beautiful site. Something I've always wanted to do but haven't yet is see a football game there--they're supposed to be really fun. Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Ditto, my friend! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Yeah, it's been really rough and it was very cold already this morning too. Nothing like having an area the size of CT flood your home state--we are very lucky not to be involved in the fire/flood damage but your heart goes out to all the folks who were, many of who lost everything.
Response: I'd been hanging on to that piggy one hoping to find someone who would really appreciate it -- so glad you like the cards! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: So glad you like the cards! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Really glad you liked it and got a good laugh out of it too.
I think Buffalo Jam could be a great name for a rock band!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart! If you're a reader, a fairly new book I read and liked was called The Light Between Oceans. It's about a couple that lives on an island lighthouse off the Australian coast.
Response: Oh good -- I don't know why I was so nervous about the cards I was sending because I know you're pretty easy to please (but don't worry, I won't let it get out :) !!). Did you know Lowry is closed now? It's all developed into residential with a commercial mix and they've done the same w/the old Stapleton Airport. I happen to live smack dab in between the two so there are many more stores/shopping options nearby me now. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: I'm so glad you like them! I do genealogy research and I bet you could find some things and confirm your connection to BB online. Ancestry.com gives two week free memberships at times too. Thanks for the rating and the heart!

Response: Thanks--same to you!
Response: So glad you got it and that you like everything! I do get a bit carried away, but then again I really appreciated your willingness to do this private swap with me. I am so looking forward to getting the cards you sent--they should be along soon I'm sure!

Response: You're very welcome -- glad you like them! Those 3-D cards are very cool.
Response: Oh, I don't know--I kind of like the design. It's certainly uniquie. What I don't like out at DIA is that awful blue horse statue that has red eyes--it's like the devil! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Glad you got them and like them all! I look forward to getting a mailing of cards and stamps from you now too!
Response: Perfect then! As I think many people would say, the book is better than the movie or mini-series, but you gotta admit that Jack Nicholson's portrail in the movie was very good. I have some collector bottles of beer from the Stanley-one is called Redrum Ale! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Glad I picked that card for you then! It hasn't been a NP for all that long. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: What a great compliment! I am really glad you like them.
Hugs to you too!
Response: Perfect! My envelope to you must've crossed the letter I'm expecting from you.
Response: Sometimes it's true, but your card to me of the NE Capitol made it just fine naked. Glad you like the card.
Response: So glad you liked everything, Carol. I would definately enjoy hearing back from you!
Response: Ah, but it's the Arkansas River that runs under the bridge and it's in Colorado! I never even realized that I had a bad fear of heights till I crossed it and I don't know if I mentioned it on the card or not, but I even had a case of Vertigo after going over it! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: No, but I will check that out for sure! thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: You're very welcome-I really like these tresure hunt type pc swaps!
Response: Well, since you had so many of them I'm glad I sent that many so that at least a few were new to you. You'll have the others now to send out yourself Have a good week! Carol
Response: Wonderful! I am really glad you liked everything, my new "CzechFriend"! Looking forward to receiving a letter from you!
Response: Yup, I thought you'd like that one! Really glad you like them.
Response: Sad indeed--I've been on the verge of tears all day it seems. But I am glad you like the cards.
Response: Very cool! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: You're most welcome! And I have another set on its way to you as well!
Response: You're most welcome. Thanks for the nice comment!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. Last I was able to talk to my son he sounded thoroughly exhausted, but still committed to the job at hand.
Response: I don't blame you--that's a tough drive through Kansas!!
Response: Would you believe that I never knew I was so afraid of heights till I was on that bridge?! Never again!
Response: Glad you liked the card! Do put that Mills Lake on your list--it's really beautiful. My sister is down in Bear Valley by Sabin Elem and she likes that area too. We went to Kunsmiller Jr. High (many moons ago!). Since you're a long time pc collector, I'm sure we'll meet again!
Response: Gee, it was nothing! But I'm very glad you like it!
Response: And to you as well!
Response: Glad you like them! I send that Native American map card out all over the world and always get wonderful comments like yours.
Response: Maybe we should form a Duckbill Platypus lover's group on Swap-bot! LOL
Response: You bet--thanks fo the rating and the heart!
Response: Glad you like them--Coors Field is a great place to watch a game (and have a beer!). And was that the envelope with the buttons? That one was so cute I had a hard time parting wtih it!
Response: I'm really glad I was able to introduce you to a North American, high-altitude cutie!
Response: What a really nice thing for you to say--made my day! thanks & you take care too!
Response: Glad you like them! Thanks for the note on my profile too- we definately have that in common and I know you can relate to what I was saying about having older parents.
Response: You're welcome--glad the card arrived and that you liked it!
Response: Glad they arrived this time!!!
Response: Glad you liked what I sent! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. Yes, that Royal Gorge Bridge is something else--after the first time I'd been over it I had nightmares about falling off of it for a week. It's what made me realize I have a fear of heights!
Response: Really glad you like it! People often mention Annie in the same breath wtih Calamity Jane, but that Jane was quite a pistol (if you'll pardon the pun!) -- Buffalo Bill once paid Jane's train fare back to Montana because she was drunk all the time and penniless. Bill's problem was that he was kind to a fault-with as much money as he made in his lifetime, he died almost broke himself-he gave most of it away is what I had read! Thanks for the rating and the heart -- Carol
Response: Really glad you like it! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Way glad you like it. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Thanks for the nice comments along wtih the rating and the heart! Carol
Response: No problem at all. Funny about the folks from Rochester all heading to Myrtle Beach! That was one place in SC that I didn't get to see.
Response: No, that's part of the downtown area. Highland and downtown are separated by I-25, the main north-south Interstate thru Colorado. There is great, new pedestrian bridge over the highway, and I'm thinking that's what you're seeing when you say arch. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Well, I'm no spring chicken either at 51. I think because it was a pretty good time in my life those memories have stayed fresh. But my sister has always said that I tend to remember much more about our childhoods that she does. I think I'm more of an optimistic person than she and that may have something to do with it to!
Response: You rode the cog train up Pike's Peak-these days it goes all the way to the top. And it was the North Pole you went to! When I was a kid that's where I thought the real North Pole was! It's still open, has kiddie rides and you can see Santa any day of the year (except 12/25 when he's busy delivering toys!).
Response: Hope you can visit--you'll love it and I say that confidently because everyone does!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. The movie version of "How Green" won best picture (1941 I think?) but still the book really is so much better. Enjoy!
Response: Fabulous! I hope you have a wonderful time in my home state. IM me if you're looking for suggestions of what to do, where to go, etc.
Response: Good for you! Part of the problem here in CO is that as you climb in altitude the air gets thinner. Breathing is NOT under-rated!
Response: Very true! Small world, eh? My Mom's good friend at Denfleld was a gal that was baseball player Joe Dimaggio's wife (before he married Marilyn Monroe).
Response: Colorado Springs is such a beautiful place--you definately need to spend some time there as there is so much to see and do.
My Dad was born there too and his parents were some of the very earliest settlers of nearby Manitou Springs!
Response: Let's give it some more time...but if it still doesn't arrive let me know and I'll send out another.
Response: Wow, that would be great! Breaking down the brick wall in a famous person's genealogy! Thanks for the rating and the heart, Debbie!
Response: Glad you liked them and thanks for the heart. Some postcard purists might not like the fish sticker, but I think it was pretty fun/cute!
Response: Glad you like it, and thanks for the heart. With a town in Colorado named Dinosaur, it only makes sence that we have an official fossil! Spring here is WACKY - 84 degrees on Sat. blew the old high temp record away, and today (Sun. 4/3) it is supposed to snow!
Response: Don't you hate that?! I've never gotten one that was torn to two pieces, but I have received some that were pretty well mangled by postal machines. Sorry.
Response: Nice! I got one of those souviners in Hawaii myself! Thanks for the heart. - Carol
Response: Too funny. Looks like that card went to the right person! I call those the Circus Tents out on the Plains.
Response: Glad you like it! I really enjoy showing off my home state. FYI I put a couple of Colo. Springs cards in the mail to you yesterday-watch for those! -- Carol
Response: We had to be very close and just didn't have a clue how far it was. It was such a dreary day and so lonely out there it was kind of weird. We definately want to come back to Charleston!
Response: Really glad you liked the card--was saving that one for someone who might really appreciate it and it sounds like it did find its way to the right person!
Response: My Dad was born in Colorado Springs, and my Great-Grandfather was one of the very earliest settlers (1872) of Manitou Springs!
Response: I didn't buy tickets for U2/The Fray, but the company I work for does get free tickets for some events like that and I have my name in for some. Not at all sure if I'll get them, but I sure would love to be there to take some pix for you!
Response: Glad you like the card. And yes, I should say you'd be happy about two new diamond rings! I've been married almost 29 years and still have just the one from our wedding! Mouth better but still a ways to go--don't think I'll ever eat applesauce or pudding again!
Response: Looking forward to it! Thanks for the heart too!
Response: And we haven't had all that much snow, but boy has it been COLD! My cat who normally likes to go outdoors some is fast becoming an in-sider. Hang in there, Mary!
Response: You're welcome--and thanks for the heart. it was fun doing it that way--kind of like a mini Denver tour!
Response: Yup, it was the Radisson! We took a boat ride right from the hotel to go see the ships at Norfolk and also went to the nearby space museum. I will check out the hampton400 web site--I hope I can return again soon!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart--you don't have to write back because Lord knows I kind of got carried away with it all. But it was fun putting that together and I think it could be a good idea for a future swap too.
Response: Thanks for your nice comment, and I'll watch for the map pc--very nice of you! IM me if you could use one from Colorado.
Response: Glad you liked it--I thought it was a real special one!
Response: Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Response: Glad you like the cards. cheers, Carol
Response: We try to keep all the snow up in the mountains. So far it's working! In Denver we haven't had snow yet and this weekend it's going to be in the upper 70's!
Response: So glad to hear it!
Response: Mine too -- we are definately very lucky to live in Colorado!
Response: Really glad you liked all the 'stuff' -- was glad to do it. Hope to see you again in another swap!
Response: Glad you like them, but for the life of me I can't remember what the 'BIG man" one is! Am pretty sure I sent you 4 cards, not 3 and in a handmade floral envelope I made. Am wondering if you got me confused with your other partner for this swap. - Carol
Response: Thanks for your nice comment. I'm glad you like the card, and I hope you were able to look up the song on youtube-I thought it was very coincidental that it was filmed in Germany where you are.
Response: We all need a little postcard pick-me-up now and then! I'm glad you liked the card.
Response: I'm with you there--we took a hike in the Garden of the Gods in Colo. Springs today and it was way too hot for me! Then on the way back up to Denver we spotted smoke from what we thought was the fire west of Boulder that's been burning all week-turns out it's a new fire, further to the north, west of Loveland now! And in the city, you seemingly have to worry that your house will blow up now (San Bruno, CA & Detroit, MI). It's really awful!
Response: Funny you say that about the pika (cartoon), because I have wondered if they might have been part of the basis for the Pokemon character Pikachu. I'm really glad you liked the card, and I'm glad too you don't seem offended by the "Jenna joke". I'll never forget the first time she told me that--it took me a few to put 2 & 2 together as well, but it's something I'll NEVER forget-I just died laughing!
Response: You gotta love moose! My sister and I went to Alaska once and got to pet a young one in a preserve who's mother was killed by a car. When you see a mother with a baby/babies you must be careful because the mothers are very protective of their young!
Response: Good -- I'm really glad you like them! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: You know, someone told me that in CT it' really hard to find postcards--I guess it's true! When you come up with some, please IM me and we'll set up a private swap. thx! Carol
Response: Yeah, that was fun doing it that way--I felt like a bird, flying all around town!
Response: You are very welcome -- I really enjoyed making them!
Response: Yeah, the newbie envelope maker passed her first test! Thanks for the rating...and the heart!
Response: Great! I think I'll tell the Colorado Tourism Board about your comment--maybe they'll put me on the payroll! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Well, I guess that's why we all travel via our postcards, huh?!
Too many places to see, and too little time (and $!) to see them all. Four Corners will always be there... Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: You're very welcome, and I've selected you for my RAK card of the week (Random Act of Kindness). Watch for another card from me in the mail--you're gonna love it!
Response: Glad you like it! it's funny--our former next door neighbor before they lived next to us lived and taught on an Indian Reservation in Arizona. After they left there and came to Colorado, their Indian friends would come to their house for alternate Thanksgivings--it was so cool because they'd play drums, dance, come in great costumes, etc. -- all in the front yard! My kids thought everyone had Thanksgivings like that! Enjoy your teaching experience!
Response: Glad you like it--I thought it was a very special one!
Response: Yes, that was me! Sorry--I was rushing too much to get multiple swaps in the mail on the same day. And you're right about the Pika--I just love them too!
Response: Actually, right now 4 Corners is a construction zone. Someone said they're moving it because it wasn't at the correct exact spot originally! So we ran around the fencing so we could say we were in all 4 states, but we couldn't do the touristy thing where you are in them all at the same time. I am Colorado born and raised and had never been down there till this year (and I'm 50!). What surprises me is how many people have been there from the east-it's like a right of passage to stop there while driving across the USA. Shiprock looks so cool-just juts up seemingly out of nowhere.
Really glad you like the card!
Response: Glad you like it! We drove from Cortez, CO to 4 Corners and could see Shiprock out in the distance into NM, but we didn't get all that close to it. have a great weekend!
Response: Thank you for the nice comment--I'm glad you liked it! And you know, there are much worse people to be related to than our red friend, Elmo!
Response: Glad you got them now and found them worth reading/rating!
Response: Lovely place to rest, yes, but I've found out it's a 2.5 mile one way walk that's mostly up hill to get there! You'd need a rest once you made it, that's for sure! Glad you like the card, Carol
Response: Thanks for your kind words, Christine! Yes, "The Rescuers" does sound right--I'll have to look up what year that was. The thing with cooking the turkey in the bag--I always wondered how/why the bag didn't catch fire in the oven, but it didn't! BTW, you could throw in some honey when you get that illness that you'll stop wishing for when it actually arrives! You'd love Manitou-such a great little Victorian town in a just beautiful setting. Hope to run into you again for another swap, Carol
Response: Gee, I wonder where that card was floating around at all that time! But I'm glad it did finally arrive and I'm super glad you liked it.
Response: Nice compliment--thank you!
Response: Wow, what a nice compliment -- thank you!
Response: The Joe Cocker/Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers show was great last night!
Didn't get home till 1 a.m. and had to work today, so that was kind of tough (at my age!) but I got through the day.
Response: You're very welcome, and thanks for the heart!
Response: Then your hubby will be happy with the All-Star game happening there in July!
Response: Glad you like 'em! Presume you're mailing mine soon?
Response: Hi Andrea: Thanks for your kind words! Don't know that I'm a sage of wisdom when it comes to marriage, but I would say that patience is key. Keep talking, make time for each
other, and really try not to go to bed mad or upset. Good luck and hang in there!
Response: Glad you like them! I thought mail 'over the pond' might be slowed by flight cancellations due to ash, but it seems like you got them quite quickly which is great. take care, Carol
Response: Glad you like it. Yes, that bridge messed me up! I never realized how afraid of heights I was till I walked across it. I had nightmares about falling off it in the couple weeks after doing that and I'm not sure I'd do it again. But it is a really neat place to see, tha's for sure.
Response: My Dad was born in the Springs and his Dad's family were some of the very earlist settlers of Manitou Springs--back in 1872!
Response: You're welcome--I thought that was a good pick for you! One of these days when/if you get me for a swap again, I'd love a card of Ithaca. I have ancestors that lived in Cayuga County!
Response: Frankly, that horse statue gives me the willies! That red eye flashing at you like the devil himself. Did you know the artist died before it was finished-it fell on him!
Response: I know you'll enjoy it a lot. Mid Sept. to mid Oct. would be a great time up in the mountains.
Response: Mine arrived Thursday and I like them too--thx!
Response: Really glad you liked it! thanks for the heart, Carol
Response: Super--I'm so glad you liked them!
Response: You're welcome! Now that the Broncos head coach is Josh McDaniels they may start looking more and more like your Patriot's!
Response: Glad "Linda" arrived okay--I had realized that the back of the card and the pen that I was using did not get along very well--hope it was not too smudgy! thanks for the rating, Carol
Response: It's true! thanks for joining my swap
Response: And aren't the Sand Dunes great! We were there last May when Medando Creek was still running and it was so fun. Who would believe that the largest sand dunes in North America would be in land-locked Colorado!
Response: I hope there weren't any duplicates! It seems I've been sending you a lot of cards lately, Mary! Have a great weekend, Carol
Response: You're welcome. Did I tell you I'm a postman's daughter too?!
Response: Glad you like them!
Response: Yes, do! It's the world's highest suspension bridge. Sit's over 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River. It's near Canon City, Colo., not far from Pueblo.
Response: Glad you liked them--especially since I got you for the 3 state postcard swap too!
Response: Glad you like them and glad they arrived okay!
Response: Gad it arrived safely this time!
Response: Glad you like it! I'll reply to your IM soon-just busy at work this week. But I have to say, I'm SO jealous of your postcard room I can hardly stand it!
Response: Glad you got thru it all! BTW, it drove me nuts not reading yours till I finished mine!!! Wishing you great dreams, Carol
Response: Merry Christmas to you too!
I think because they knew they were not going to get any more of those cards they preferred to sell them to tourists. They wanted me to put many of them back but I wouldn't do it. And in the end, if you're willing to pay for them, what can they say?
Response: Thanks much--I'd really appreciate it if you locate any! Happy Thanksgiving,
Carol
Response: That would be so great--thanks very much!
Response: It's the symbol on your swap-bot profile--in between the GA barn photo and the native american girl's photo.
Response: You're welcome--I had fun putting all of it together!
Response: Isn't it neat when a card you get brings back a good memory like that! A lot of people pose by it like they're the one holding it up. Garden of the Gods is a wonderful place-one of my favorites in Colorado.
Response: Yeah, my husband and I had a wonderful time there and would most definately like to go back!
Response: Why the 3 rating? I mailed all my cards on 09/09/09 as instructed and picked one especially for you based on your profile that said you liked funny native animals of which the Colorado Pica certainly qualifies! I even asked the postman to hand-stamp your card with the 09/09/09. Recently I mailed a card to Australia and was told it arrived 2 months late and went via Bermuda--was it some issue like that? Carol
Thanks for changing the rating!
Response: Better late than never, I suppose, but BERMUDA?!
Glad you like them.
Response: Oh, you're a doll-thanks!
Carol Warner
1753 Roslyn St.
Denver, CO 80220
WI State Capitol Building!
Response: Please do write back when you're able, Denise!
Response: Glad you like it--it got to you quickly!
Response: I was born in Denver but my Dad was born in Colo. Springs. His Dad was a Col. in the Colo. Natl. Guard down there and my Great-Grandfather Isaac Davis was one of the very first settlers in Manitou Springs!
Response: no problem at all -- happy swapping!
Response: The park is Denver's City Park, and it's a Pavillion actually. They have weddings/receptions and other events there-you can rent it by the hour or for the day I think. Part of he Denver Zoo is in the bottom right of that card, and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is in City Park too. It's a great place! Denver has one of the best city park systems in the USA!
Response: Glad you like them. They got to you fast!
Response: You have no idea-it actually messed me up for a time! I was having nightmares about falling off of it in the month after we were there. I don't think I'll ever go over it again.
Response: You have no idea-it actually messed me up for a time! I was having nightmares about falling off of it in the month after we were there. I don't think I'll ever go over it again.
Response: Come visit! Believe me, people who come here LOVE it and many, many want to move here once they've been here. It's one of the best cities in the USA I think!
Response: Another great small town in Colorado!
Response: Isn't it liberating to have that much hair cut off! I wish mine was in better shape as I would have donated it too. It got really damaged from lots of coloring. I was way past due, but man does it feel great now! Thanks for the heart, btw! Carol
Response: Really glad you liked it--and I hope they were tears brought from good memories with him there!
Response: You'll laugh--when I rode the mules on Molokai it was back in I think 1980. To this day, I remember my mule's name--Dark Cloud! He was steady of foot, and that's what counted. Have a good weekend!
Response: You bet-it's funny that the other gal I sent that same card to for this swap had been there too-when she was 7 years old!
Response: Wanna hear something funny? The other gal I sent that same card to had been to the RG bridge and walked across it "many years ago" too!
Response: I absolutely love what you wrote and may have to steal your "postcard pick me up" line because that's EXACTLY what they are!
Response: You're very welcome, Erika! I'm glad you like it--especially since it's your first one!
Response: Thanks--same to you!
Response: No worries--thanks for the rating!
Response: Glad you got them both and glad you love them both, Maite! And I look forward to getting one from you, too! -- Carol in Denver
Response: You're very welcome! I thought you'd like that...
Response: thanks, you too!!
Response: I didn't know that! Yes, it is a very small world!
Response: Really glad you enjoyed it! Carol
Response: Great, Linda! I'm glad you liked them-I put a little more postage than needed so you'd get all 5 Simpson's! I wish I had a horse too-please give yours a nice stroke for me!
Response: Hi Arianna! Glad you liked my stories-and surprised anyone read the whole thing! I do get carried away at times. Anyway, you really do need to get on a plane and fly-it's safer than driving in a car you know. Will send you an email about your offer to send a postcard--thanks very much! Carol in Denver
Response: Hi again: Yes, I'd love one from Brittany too! I have been to Paris, but not Luxembourg or Brittany. Is Brittany where Mont St. Michel is? If I have the geography correct, having a postcard of it would be so very cool! Are you French and just living/working in Luxembourg currently? Thank you so much! Carol
